You chose, panacea or pandemic!
Personally I do not give a fuck if something like this sweeps the globe laying waste to millions. Sooner or later it has to happen, at the rate the worlds population increases. Probably won't happen in our lifetime but it will happen, in my opinion. Some may say I haven't thought it out, "how would you feel if it were your loved ones?" etc. Like I said, just my opinion.
So vote now!

Edit; Sorry it's yet another thread about swine flu!

A great teacher once said "The only stupid question is one that isn't asked." So no mocking when I ask...

What does "panacea" mean?

As long as it doesn't kill me in the end, it all seems like a hyped up joke to me right now.
People in the media are acting as if a hundred thousand or so have died already.
Granted, it has been quite some time that something of substance were to be reported on.

Who gives a flying fuck if you can't call your son Major?
I can't watch the news anymore because the stupid things they report about make my blood boil.

In Greek mythology, Panacea (Greek Πανάκεια, Panakeia) was the goddess of healing.

I guess it means a blessing, or in this case, one in disguise.

I once heard my teacher use that sentence, so coupled 'assume' somewhere in the sentence, I asked a question. He made a good funny joke at my expense, silly man.
Needless to say I got a detention I never attended, nor apologized after the 24 hour-to-apologize warning.

I'll call him a spineless fucksack who should keep a close eye on his kids - again. :angry2:

BLING! just for being so angry about something no-one else knows about. Almost made my day actually.

Isn't this topic a little old hat now? I know i'm sick of it anyway.

Actually interesting hearing Rob Fyffe sp? talking about how tourism has suffered in NZ due to John Key's OTT reaction to the Swine/Pig/H1N1 whatever flu.

And we have him scheduled in to talk at my school on Friday. Should be interesting

Put simply it means 'cure-all'

Put simply it means 'cure-all'

And if it really IS a pandemic of any substance, it might just do that - cure all I mean...but frankly I think its total bullshit...

It is a joke. Waah like 200 people died which leaves the other 7 billion or so of us in face masks rushing to the pharmacy for tamiflu. The number of people dying, or even infected doesn't even register as a percentage of the earths population.
And also according to wikipedia, normal flu kills hundreds of thousands of people each year anyway, without any swine relations.

Oh hey anyone remember SARS, or Bird flu? Where'd they disappear to?

Yeah I agree the news sucks, to the point where I don't even watch the news. Or TV in general for that matter. First I heard about swine flu was an email from uni saying a couple of people had been near affected areas recently and had to stay home for a week or so.
