Cheap PC games/CD keys

Just an FYI post.

There are heaps of sites around on the net that sell CD Keys for games, and many are dodgy I thought I'd post that I found a legit one. I just brought Left4Dead from http://www.directgamekeys.com/
Key arrived this morning (The company works US EST hours, and I ordered it during their night, normally their turn around is under 2 hours I'm told). Entered it into steam no problem, valid key.

So if any of you are wanting to buy cheap games/CD keys online, check them out. I paid NZD$45 for a Left4Dead Steam key, which is a steal given its $100 retail in NZ, or $72 on steam.

Next pay day, Dawn of War 2 for $45NZD I feel :-) (Vs NZD$105 on steam or $80-100 retail)

I don't trust the internet with my credit card... Also if you're so worried about legitness that you're spending money then why not buy the actual thing from a shop?

ditto - only use credit card for bills online but thats all.
cheaper to buy a key than the software, obviously, although I'd never buy a key
there are plenty of safe cracks out there ... not that i would know of course :innocent::whistle:

It's parallel importing, which is legal in NZ. What happens is that in markets with rampant piracy (IE South East Asia), game publishers will sell their games for significantly lower than they do in the western world. A game that costs $100 here can cost $10 there. These stores buy those games, completely legally, and sell the CD keys from them. Same for movies, you can buy a legit DVD in many of these markets for $5-10 for new release movies, to compete with the pirated DVD's at $2-3.

$100+ for a computer game is fucking outragous. I want to buy the game legally, but still pay a reasonable price, not the "lets gouge the fuck out of the market" price.

Also the site uses Paypal, so they never get your credit card details. And as for cracks dont get me wrong I have a tonne of cracked software, but some games need a CD key to play online, and I dont actually mind paying for my software if the price is what I deem to be reasonable.

They are selling keys - many of their product require you to pirate a copy of the actual software before being able to use the key. Most EULA's require you to transfer and sell the game in its entirety - including the media.

There is no proof or guarantee that they simply are not using keygens.

Firstly, EULA's are not legally binding.
Secondly, the game I brought at least is a steam game. I entered the key, steam checks that is a valid real key, and then lets me download the game. No need to copy/pirate anything. But yes some games you would need to acquire the software, but more often people use keys like this where they have the game, but their account has been banned.
Thirdly there is some proof that they arnt using keygens:

Or you could make friends with your little brothers mates, and borrow their keys? Only game I play online is CoD4, anyway, and he had 3 keys O_o

EULA can be binding - but that is another discussion altogether (as is the point even if they are binding - is it worth enforcing).

I have no doubt that some, possibly even many of the sites that sell CD keys online are using keygens, or even stolen accounts. Part of the reason I posted this was because I wanted to convey that this one appears to be legit.

I just bought left 4 dead 2 today .. $28 NZ (after conversion) on steam .. 7gb download . .gah !!! a little boy waits
