Well after 38000KM my rear shock is "not good"
Anyone know of a cheap place to get a replacement,. or maybe an after market shock that will fit?

Cost to import a stock hyosung replacement from http://www.richardhyosunggvgt.com/ is NZ$215.30

I've also heard through the grapevine that the GT650 shock will fit. (can anyone confirm this?, would it be an improvement?)

Comments/suggestions?

edit: theres loads and loads of crashed GT250's around - just offer them $80 for the shock.

Hmmm, TSS price for a shock is $590 :crazy: so I think I'll go the import track.

I'm yet to find a crashed GT250, as I'm also on the look out for a replacement chain guard (Mine got eaten when a bolt came lose on the motorway)

Hmmm, TSS price for a shock is $590 :crazy: so I think I'll go the import track.Fark. I'm amazed they haven't remedied their prices. New stuff is stupidly expensive. A new tank is three times the price locally, as one from Richard. Ditto swingarm, digital dash etc.

Search trademe for GT250, and then sort by lowest price, and then you get to find all the auctions for parts. Ask questions on their auctions about a shock. Theres a place in wellington called "Buckets and bits" and he usually has some Hyo stuff.

now I just have to find somewhere that can install it cheaply.
(TSS is $65ish an hour)

Anyone in Wellington got the gear and want to do a shock install for a doz beer? ;)

At $65 an hour Im surprised their workshop could break even, for heavens sake that is also cheap!

Well that number is sort of pulled out of the air, it was $190 for 3 hours, so I just divided it. there may be a minimum charge, Im not sure.

now I just have to find somewhere that can install it cheaply.Put it in yourself. I think you just remove the rear exhaust tube and unbolt the suspension and swap it over.

Talk to the bucket crew down there, and ask someone if you can do the job at their place and use their tools and expertise.

Just an update:
got this sorted a few weeks ago.

Brought it from http://www.richardhyosunggvgt.com/ and it arrived in 3 days, cost around $220 all up.

Took less than an hour to install, just needed to unbolt and drop the old one out the bottom and install the new shock. no need to remove the exhaust etc.
(mate of mine who runs the local auto shop did it as he owed me a favour)
