I got my fingers crossed it won't snow, I'm leaving at 6:00AM to allow plenty of time. Tickled Pink is ready to run, and looking pretty darn cool I may add.
Looking forward to having another go round the track. Hopefully I'll be able to improve my lap times and work out where you are meant to start from this time.
Cheers Muzza

If racing in the cold pissng rain and riding through 6inch deep puddles trying to pass people is your idea of fun then you couldn't have picked a better day for it

Yeah it was a touch damp  espc when Bren used the puddle in the dipper to pass me in the warmup - the bow wave filled up my right boot :girlfight: but a good day all in all. Woollen thermals and waterproofs kept me warm and more or less dry. All the bucket racers stayed right way up although one or two had issues with their bikes - damp electricky? First time for me on slicks in the wet and it was a valuable learning experience as such. I was pottering around slowly during the warm up without any idea how hard/fast to go until passed by the quick guys and saw how hard they were going which gave me the confidence to push a bit harder. Last race I was able to latch onto Budda who was great to follow on the basis that if he can go that hard thru there so can I :) Roll on round 2!

Well that day is done, bikes are now drip drying in the garage. that was a wicked day, the puddles in places were fairly hefty. The bucket was consistant, though I wished I had gone into the first corner harder... collision fears hampered my approach.
Just a shame there was not a couple more laps in the race to assist in catch up.
The RD on the other hand was an awesome ride.. loved every second on that... a sucky start on the first race... that ended in a 3rd placing. And the second race an ok start, but got caught behind a ducati doing a tail end tango, snuck past em on the next lap, but 2nd place though gaining on the fella, not enough laps left to launch an attack.

All in all bloody good day, the hot chips hit the spot... and the wet weather gear kept most of the rain at bay.

Bring on rnd 2, and another WET one!!!!!!!!

It was a great day, weather a bit chilly, I'm still cold from yesterday!

Bucket was performing well, had road tyres on so was pretty good, had plenty of power, more power than an FXR anyway, I guess those riders with proper slicks had a bit of an advantage, was alright though. Maybe next time there will be better weather.

Pre '82 bike wasn't so great, must have got water under the twist grip which turned to mud or something perhaps as the twist grip became really stiff, and you had to make sure that you manually turned it off as you came up to corners. it was also a bit tricky to get started due it have being sitting around for months.

Maybe the next time will be better weather!

Hey Darryl the on the points half of them still say 2008! And how come you get 100 points? You didn't even race! :scooter:

I reckon what would be cool is if the club presidant posted the race results after every meeting, ie who got what placing, I reckon that would be ace!

That was a really cool day (in every sense of 'cool' :cold:)- all I could ask for would be more races and more laps per race :yeah:.
First time on slicks in the wet - I just love that slip slidy feel (though I must say the front was solid as a rock).
I must sort out some gaiters for the next wet race day, got my boots filled on the first corner of the first practice lap - memo to me - don't sit just beside and behind a bike going through a deep puddle (lake?).
I think a special thanks  should go out to the flag marshals on the day - imaging standing still for hours in that weather .

nasty nasty weather! If it had actually been raining at home when I got up I would not have gone out!!! It wasn't so I went. I am glad I went 'cause I got maximum points ifn the ladies class as I was the only female Bucket racer silly enuff to turn up.
Warm-up was interesting. Had to find out where the puddles were and just feel my way round. Hadn't ridden the bucket for a wee while. I was very slow on the warm-up and when sam passed me just before a puddle I was not impressed to be showered!!! My boots had already started filling with water while waiting for the practice to start!!! My flash boots are not waterproof.
First race was OK, the puddles were turning into lakes but I was faster than the practice!!!!
2md race and I actually passed to people, 1 guy kept passing me back though. I got him on the sweeper but he would get me back just before the first corner, damn it I couldn't get him on the last lap and he pipped me at the post.
Not too keen of the freezing cold wet racing, but I survived and I got points so that is the main thing!!!!
Big thanks to the flag marshalls - what a shittly day for it!!!

A bit disappointing not making it through the pracice session. Drive home a lot easier than getting there. Tickled Pink now dried out (who'd think you'd bring a bike home to the coast to dry out!!). Problem sorted, it was a stuffed
coil or lead by the feel of it. Had me going as there was plenty of spark when giving it a kick, but tried the coil off my parts bike anyway and it started straight up. May even be running better than before. Roll on round two, I may even get to take part in a race.

Hey, bring a spare coil for the next round, or go fit that CDI! ;)

Thats the second coil thats gone on that bike, something is obviously causing them to fail. i'd seriously bring backup or dump that old points system all together!

see ya next time!

The coil looks like it had crapped out near where the lead connects. It was pretty wiggly compared to the other one. (Another spare is a good idea). I'll be interested to see if it goes better now. It certainly is a one kick starter

Hey Dave

Its good, i'll take it out in the CAMs meeting this coming weekend. it loves the COLD race days, has much more power in the cold which makes sense considering the main jet. :msn-wink:

i wish i was lighter and i wish i could be bothered to move the engine up a little in the frame so i can also work on moving the shock mount on the swingarm THUS giving it 35mm (minimum) more ride height... but alas i got other fish to fry!

I have problems getting it off the line, it will just go flat (no gas) off the line until the engine sucks gas back in, so my question is to you... did u let it rev around 2k (not touching the throttle) and then take off or did u work the throttle (rev rev rev) on the grid and then take off, tell me the way oh master!

I've had a few good results, surprsing myself, once i got my head around how to ride it around corners i found it actually very stable and FASSSTT!!! (scrape scrape)
:shifty:

Erm it can be a bit cantankerous, depending if pilot jet is clear, how far idle up & maybe float height. When all cool just hold it steady at reasonably high revs & drop the touchy clutch, usually it motivates. I holeshoted from row 3 & won the race first time I rode it despite the head brgs being loose & having not done more than one lap.
