I got a good way, pick up the neons and put them in the place they should be, the rubbish bin.

Please no! Don't go rice on a bike. Really. Don't. I beg of you. Chromes and NEONS!???? Don't insult the rest of us, just buy a CRX and mutilate that huh?

Well, that's it. It's official- I'm getting old!
Why oh why do you want to put neons on your bike?

Why oh why would you do this cruel act to your bike! If you must, go to Dick Smith/Jay Car etc and get a waterproof switch, an inline fuse casing, and a 10/15A fuse (check the light ratings). Please tell me you understand the basics of a eletrical circuit?

OK, Im sorry, I cant bring myself to help you anymore in this project. Please reconsider!

But if the worst comes to the worst, ask dangerous about it. He is the local guru on neons, he might even help you install them.

But i hope you see the light first.

Or you could p/m cheetor and ask him.... he did it to his GSX250............ but I must warn you shortley after he did that, his bike took control of him and it comited suicide (with him on it) and plowd side on into a car at some dumb ass speed in town. :apint:

Dont be sorry man. Well its like this, if it wasent for your rev limiter and you twisted it around to 20,000rpm then you would get valve bounce...... were the valves cant possibly go up and down any faster, I'm buggered if I know how the hell your type of 250 can pull those kinda revs anyway.... 19k redline mines 9k so 10k would most likely have it valve bouncing.
NB: engines never used to have rev limiters.... so 1st warning of over reving would be valve bounce..... or if British, a bloody loud bang. :niceone:

I think (bit of a noob), you can hear the valve bounce in that movie of the IOM track, he's really pushing that CBR (http://www.firebladezone.com/video/download.php3?Fichier=04Man-CBR1000-Maeda.zip).

Anyway, back on topic... as a fellow Invader owner (while neon does have it's place), please not on your bike. :Oi:

(OT: You don't work in that restraunt on Manchester St do you, I see a Grey Invader there most nights on the way to the gym, or conversly there's usually one parked in the Harvey Norman car park. :spudwhat: not yours?

Don't actually see many blue ones like mine about)

Aaron.

Getting valve bounce normally requires some real idiotic skills, 90% of the time you can feel valve float before the inevitable slapping, and back off before it happens...

Neons what a great idea, then you can lower it, cut the spring in the back, lower the front (just undo the top and bottom and take the annoying springs and oil out) and put some apehangers on and some HUGE blundbust pipes. oh oh oh wait, how about making it into a chopper???? Put some chrome footpegs way up front! ANd you could wear a leather vest, maybe some chaps with tassels. Chrome everything you can!

Hang on if you wanna be a poser what are you doing with a sportsbike?

Still, Im 20 and I would never tie on shiny light things to make the ground different colours. You should never do it, it messes with you might and before you know it, you will be sobbing in a corner winging about the lights being blue instead of green

Neon Is bad!!!

Well IMHO if you get neon, you've gotta get one of them helmets with the furry mohican bit over the top. Then get a jacket with "Biker Boyz" patch on the back and learn how to smoke up the rear while sitting at the lights.

my 250 red lines at 14k and max's out at 16k. if thats any help.

My 250 redlines at 19k. Its a 4 cylinder as opposed to yours being a 2 cylinder, hence lighter pistons and higher revs. Taken it there a few times but the power dies out quite rapidly after 17k.

I have seen ones that max ouyt at 26rpm. Why the hell though, surely thats bad for it??

26k? you might've been mistaken. I think even the NSR and RS250's top out at around 20k.

not many people out there with neons on their bike. i think neons would be cool at night as it would make you really stand out & cars might take more notice. blue would be my choice. go for it, dare to be different.

Doubt it, they don't go that high, maybe 13 or 14. They are twin's so the pistons are heavier and hence don't rev as high.

I believe there were some HRC cbr250's that revved to around the 22k mark, but I am pretty sure the cbr250's and zxr250's are the highest revving road bikes. Think there were some straight 6 250 race bikes made in the 70's or something and they might have revved that high but not much else.

I shit ypou not, I have seen one a few years back when I first got here, the Revs stopped at 26rpm. I dont know if it actually got that high, but thats what I saw I tells ya

Ok guys, thanks alot for all the 'constuctive criticism' which I am taking alot of it as, but I think i will go with what 750Y says and be unique and hook some up. Sorry to all those who oppose. If you think its an insult(sorry) theres no need to worry. I am only doing this cos i cant have a faster bike at the moment so i am subsituting speed for pretties and with more speed i would crash and die :( so i think its an ok subsitute.

(OT: Aaron, i dont work in town, i work out in hornby, so it aint me:) )

P.S It wont be for very long. :2thumbsup

On a more constructive note, the neons may be a nuisance to other road users on a bike, as unlike on a car, a bike rotates about its axis exposing the underside. This could be quite confusing to some other people on the road. Maybe you should install it with a switch so you could turn them off in normal use? Then turn them on for bling value when in town?

You should probably go to VTNZ station, or give the LTNZ a call and see if they are allowed on bikes.

Well, it's not something I would care for myself, but part of being a biker is expressing one's own individuality. If we were conformists, none of us would be bikers, we'd be driving around in Toyota Corollas.

So if it works for you, go for it. (Not of course that you need anyones approval anyway)

Same as choppers, personally I don't care for them, but one man's meat is another's poison, and I don't think that bikers should ever diss another biker's choice of mount. Some people may very well dislike the styling of sports bikes (must admit I'm not that keen on it myself)

(Just one point you may need to either be careful what you do or keep a close eye out for Mr Plod. There are new lighting rules that are supposed to come out in April which place a lot of new restrictions on lights, especially what they call courtesy lights, and are not very bike friendly (how surprising))

Go for it and good luck :2thumbsup

Good on ya Tef, we were all that age once and wanted to do something differant :niceone:

The highest reving bike that I know of is the NR500 that redlined at 20,000rpm.... only a jet engine could rev harder than that, the next closest would be the RC166 the Honda 250 six of 1967 at 18,000rpm then the Guzzi V8 0f 54 at and the NR750 14,000rpm...... still anything over 10k puts the shits up me :apint:
