Pocketbike very loud!

Hey guys, its been a while since I posted here...anyway i have a question to ask:

I have a 49cc pocketbike with a hole in the exhaust...the hole is about the size of a 10 cent coin. Anyway I was wondering is that the reason why the pocketbike is much louder? and also if i weld the hole back up will it help?

Fixing the exhaust would certainly would help keep the noise down Nick.

May be cheaper to buy another complete exhaust though as it may blow out elsewhere.
