It has been confirmed ... winter is here. The temperature has dropped. The summer bikers have put their rego. on hold... thrown the cover over their pride and joy, and marked on their calander ... their first summer rally.
But there are some, (me) who do go for a ride ... if the weather isn't too radical. With good gear, the air temperature isn't too important, as long as its not below zero. Ice rears its ugly head then ... and can make life difficult.
The snow on the hills above the Cromwell gorge, were shrouded in mist/cloud. But very clearly not that far above the road. Stopped near Cromwell for a few photos, then off up the road to Tarras for a Coffee. Not a bad stopping place... gas at the shop if you need it. A few more photos on the way back, with just 130 km's on the tripmeter. My gloves being 3 summers old, were letting the chill in a bit, so didn't push the time on the road. Or the speed.
I didn't wave to any other bikers... never saw any others... was there something on tv ????

I can always appreciate our 3 month summers ... its a good thing there are pubs all over the place in Otago... warm bars and beds. "Southern Hospitality" at its best. Those that have nevered been "snowed in" at a pub, will/can never know its full meaning...

To be honest winter riding is often preferable to stinking hot summer days, perforated leathers make the real hot days more plesurable in summer but them aside i find it can just get way to hot for my liking in summer, those fine winter days are just right.

A heated vest appeals to the modern "softies" ... apparently...

The next step is getting the cage out ...

Even the pix make me feel cold, pretty but I prefer your profile pic, it looks like your on a Tuscan hill gazing down on the quaint villages and vineyards in the warm summer sun.

People tell me, because I'm a Pom, I should be used to the cold and wetiness, well I am but it doesn't mean I bloody like it. Come back summer! :cold:

Sorry, no pics. But it was snowing when I rode to work this morning, and wet sleet when riding home tonight. Absolutely beautiful. :D

I bet the scenery tomorrow will be fantastic, and we still have more of this to come.
