Just had a thought mate (took me by suprise as I dont get them often)
If you got the missing parts why not try listing the tank (trademe) to see if you get any bites.... but make the price something stupied so no one in their right mind will actually buy it... but then say your open to offeres - might also be a good idea to say the rest of the bike is stuffed....

its only a thought....

You could even say that to someone asking if it fits to give you the serial number (or last 4 dig) of the frame and you can let them know from that? (double sneaky)

ill list it for you if you like, im in gisborne and my trademe account says so to suit... would cause less suspicion if its not listed from the same area

I bought my CRF 150 tyres from CMB they are out my way, well more towards Otara or Manukau. They seemed like ok guys not a back yard shop by any means.
Gonna be a shit for them if they have traded it and fixed it up in good faith but they may know the person who bought it in so the cops should be notified!!

Bloody good spotting Barty!

I read that 10 times over trying to figure out what you're saying. If you're saying this is the shop he bought it it up from, then its not likely because he posted the thread on the 11th.

The listing ends on 9 June, which is 4 weeks from 13 May, which is the maximum length of a bike listing (Hell, I'm pretty sure it's 2 weeks, but just in case I'm wrong, I'm going worst case scenario).

So the bike was listed on trademe 2 days after his bike was stolen. In addition to this, I searched for previous listings of the same bike that have expired without anyone winning / listings that have been withdrawn on trademe, and didn't find squat. Which means this is the FIRST TIME this listing is running.

Stop fucking about, and tell the guy to go get his bike. I'm surprised someone would be sitting on their hands like this, after locating their stolen bike. I for one would be on a plane by now on my way down there.

I apologise if I have any of the facts wrong

barty5
28th May 2010, 10:42
You got the facts wrong go to the 1st post you will see this started over a year ago when he bought the bike last year round February not long after he was having prob took it to a shop (think it was the one it is now for sale at on TM ) anyway the day after he got it home missing a few bits it was stolen. It has now been listed on TM over a year later spoke to his brother and he said he never got it back so it is still a stolen bike.

denill
28th May 2010, 10:42
WTF is going on here?

That seems to be almost certainly the bike that was (allegedly) stolen - so why the fuck hasn't it been resolved??

No dealer would be stupid enough to on-sell a bike that they knew to be stolen. Specially withh the distinctive features this still has.

So WTF is happening?? :mad::mad:

barty5
28th May 2010, 10:42
Only spoke to his brother last night about it as it was only noticed last night

If it isn't road registered, wouldn't making sure it wasn't stolen be more difficult than just running the plate as you would do with a road registered vehicle?

My point is that - IMO they would not know it was stolen.

Simply ring the cops with the information! Its as easy as that, they will take it seriously! You don't have to be the owner or do anything other than pass on the info you have. They will notify the owner via their compliant records and start an investigation on receiving stolen goods. Its as simple as that and it should be done now before someone notifies them of this thread and the bloody thing disappears. Do it now or PM me and I will call someone I know or give you her number, they need to go take possession of the bike now, as no one else has the authority to do so being unregistered.
These pricks need to be nailed and there is only one organisation that can do that!

Yes but there isn't a central database of un-road-registered bikes in NZ like there is for Road registered bikes. Ya dig?

Anyway, I'm surprised (and amused) that the original owner has not shown up at the shop yet :corn:

Well mate you've done your bit and good on ya!!
I must say I'm very disappointed in the cops approach! Why arn't they at the very least going out and taking names and making sure the bloody evidence doesn't disappear?
I can only think Phil didn't report it as stolen in the first place? If he did they have the original theft complaint and the whereabouts of the bike, they don't need him, why no action??

Hi Phil. Sorry I was getting a bit cynical as I could not make out why you had dissappeared.

And yeah, like the others, I hope you get your bike back.

It's good to know that the shop selling it is probably not involved in the theft - but it could cost them dearly.

I feel for them, as long as they haven't had anything to do with its disapperance, and I have bought tyres etc from there in the past, they seem quite genuine, so lets not assume they have.
They have spent a shit load of money fixing the bike up up to loose it and their money in the end. Its a pity there is not a bike register for off road machines?
