I'll have to have a look to see if the other tagging games around the country are as fast moving as ours.

Auckland had had every tag gone within 36 hours of it being posted.

Until I posted up the latest one... :woohoo:

I just hope you never come down here and steal our tag.
We'd probably end up with it being stuck on Kapiti Island or something.

for the record ANYONE can come and get our tag,but it must be posted back in the welly region.Thats the way it is played in the original games. It is the Welly tag o rama...not northland... or... southland, but ANYONE can play.If people want a bigger game start a NI one or NZ one

Well done Devo.:woohoo:

It's right on the end of Takapu Road as you pull off the motorway at Granada. It's on the entrance to Ablaze.
You can actually see it from the motorway heading south as you come around the bend by the Granada/Tawa slip road.

Now where to Devo.... :wait::whistle:

devo
25th June 2009, 17:05
fair enuff
tag location is on the industrial estate on the tawa turnoff heading south.
Tis part of the landscape supplies outfit, just of the motorway heading towards fletchers yard.

Steel wires showing through on the rear tyre (over inflated tyre at trackday ) makes it a bit dicey in the wet conditions...who am I kidding makes it dicey in any conditions.

Bit low on funds o can't afford the 3 hundy to replace it.

What size tyres does it take and what do ya have on the front at present ?One fiddy would see ya with a set of ex race tyres IF yours wasn't an oddball size !

I guess it depends on how odd you consider 150/60/17?

It's running Dunlop Sportmax GPR A10's at the mo and they stick like sh1t to a blanket :headbang:

Pretty odd, especially when i have a shed full (well a few) of 180/190 55's
Good trick would be to scroll the racing forums and find some local racers(or not so local as they'll mostly all be at manfield on the 25th) find the f3 guys and pm them
Or start your own thread in there !
I think Scratcha runs the dunlop GPR's but then he's scottish and chances are his are on the steel belts too lol
Unfortunately most of the F3 guys do get max use out of their tyres whereas the 600's and thou's get maybe 3 races and then sell em off as road tyres with truckloads of tread still on em !
Just stuck a feeler post on this thread for ya

No I didn't know where it was for sure.
But the hint given by Hawkeye that it was close to another tag, down a twisty road plus the foilage in the picture (those plants usually grow close to the sea and they are on a hill) plus the shadows on the ground giving an idea of location relative to the sun (hill was facing the west), gave me the idea that it might have been in Eastbourne. So went for a ride and sure enough.
Daylight tag will mean that it will have to wait till tomorrow.

I think once summer comes and alot of games have dropped off due to lack of interest, one will come out of all and it will be a game of snatch the tag and take it home between all the regions, where it will settle amoungst the locals for a while, untill someone from out of town moves it again ! Now that would be the mikky tag game for summer !

There are really only a few streets to get this view on a line generally SW from Kaukau transmission tower(can confirm location very accurately on satelite view). One street in particular shows evidence of the sort of site(s) you often find caravans( in satellite view).Confirm suspicions on street view.

Putting the tag in front of my fireplace is a bloody brilliant idea. Not too sure the better half would be impressed with motorcycles being parked up in the lounge in front of the fireplace.

A BBQ to meet some of you guys on here would be a great idea once the weather warms up a little. On that note, are any of you going to the BEARS meet on Wednesday?

There are only that many wind generators at the top end of the Tauraruas or the bottom end of the Ruahines! (either side of the Manawatu gorge)

Unless the Makara consents were granted and the Wind farm there has been built and I didn't even notice!

Consents take so bloody long and cost so much, no wonder power prices are so high!

I was thinking exactly the same thing the other day when I went and picked up the tag from QE2 park. - Thoughts anyone. We don't want it too far away otherwise :

1) it limits the fun to week-ends or well lit places.

2) if we take it too far, someone from another area may grab it and take it out of the region.:crybaby::Playnice:

it cant be taken out of the area.It is the welly tag orama, anyone can grab it but it s gotta be retagged here...thats how they play in the original game.I am gonna amend the rules to say this.As far as range goes we have been to Martinborough and Waikanae.I say we leave it as is but lets just keep it close during the remaining winter months so people can get to the tag around 5 30.

Just waiting to :ride:

Just got home from work. The CB wouldn't start (flat battery) when I came to go home. Tried crash starting but no luck. Parked the bike in the underground garage, took the battery off and headed for the train. Got delayed by the 2 pints in the Feathers followed by a pint in Trax.

Battery now on charge and due to the 3 pints, will not be venturing out on the Katana.

I only charged the battery a couple of weeks ago. The bike had sat idle in the garage for about 2 month and due to the alarm, had drained the battery. It has obviously come to the end of it's life as it isn't holding it's charge. New battery required.

That's a nice bit of road, provided you don't overcook it and end up on the rocks. I think a few riders have done so over the years with bad consequences. I've seen a couple of cars end up in the drink.

Looks like you need any old excuse to get out on the bike Aero.

this is right round by Eastbourne. There are prolly three spots that you could get caught out,but the rest of the road has quite good visibility.

Pretty foggy on the Hutt side of the hill - gotta thaw my fingers before I get a new tag...

otherwise I have no clue, steep hillsides, highvoltage lines not withstanding.I think these "middle of no where" shots do need some sort of clue. The Brittons one was ok that was a clue in itself but this one hmmm

OK. The road carries on under a different name, but it's beyond my range. Though not because my bike's not a GS (though I do have serious GS envy). It's closed to all but those on legs, but if you really must ride this historic road, there's a short section of tarmac at it's very end.

is it up stratton street or normondale road?
No, think further west. And valley rather than hill.

dont get too envious the gs is really a road bike in disguise mate.the only difference between yours and mine really is a bash plate and longer suspension.I have a slightly chunky rear tire and a slightly chunkier again front 21 in ...i think our frames are very very similar

Yeah, I'm actually considering a GS front end and some knobblies and seeing if I can just go and hit some trails that way.

Valley rather than hill, further west than Stratton Street or Normandale Road.
Two hi-voltage power lines. Historic road. That really leaves only one option. It's gotta be ....
Problem is that I can not find the two street views pictured in that valley, that's what is stopping me jumping on the bike and going for a looksie.
I am a little stumped.
Can you confirm the view in the picture is looking in a general East, South-East direction?
How far off the tarseal is your bike parked?

Only a few meters. Remember that streetview shows the particular road, but not necessarily where I am. Re-read what I've written since the tag, some specific words I've used.

As I was leaving this spot and just after turning back up Ohariu Valley Road from Rifle Range Road another motorcyclist came towards me on what looked very much like a BMW adventure type of machine. Had to be BMWST? I thought. So turned around and raced back up Rifle Range Road to go and say "Gidday" to a person I have met online but never person to person. Only to find there was no one at the end of the road. So if it was BMWST? then he still didn't know for sure at that time exactly where the tag was. So it was a quick trip home in the hope of beating him to it (if it was him).
So...
Was that you BMWST? ?

Cloggy

Ignore that, obviously it was you.
I too first thought the tag was on Takapu Road as it fitted the description as well, it changes name if you choose to walk it to the end, it is a historic road, has the same two power pylons running along it etc. Just not those street views hence my post earlier re my confusion.

yes it was...i knew it was rifle range road but when i got to the crossroads i went right cos i thought rifle range road would run back off O'valley Road
so i went all the way to the end.I saw you and although it was bloody dark I though that it was you...(i only saw twin headlights(not round)).Then i went back and up RR road.I though i might just beat you to post it,Only MINUTES in it eh....

And there is more to this story.
I was going to grab it straight after work before heading home. But I had to go home first to give the daughter some cash so she could go out tonight.
Quickly checked on the computer if anyone had grabbed the tag yet. Nope.. so my partner said what are you waiting for, go for it.
So back on the bike and over the hill. Turned off at Gracefield past Industrial Research there. Halfway along the curve coming down the hill the speed limit changes from 80km/hr down to 50km/hr. You are coming down a steep hill and don't want to ride the brakes so just coast it down under engine brakes. Have done this for the last 15 years. As you get back on the flat you slow down to 50 or there abouts.
This evening a cop was coming up the road to head over the hill and pinged me for doing 66km/hr in what was now 50km/hr.
Gutted. So $120 and 20 demerit points on my otherwise squeeky clean drivers licence.:crybaby:
An expensive tag this one.
