It has come time to upgrade from my Immaculate '97 Vulcan Classic done 49k.
I have for sometime imagined moving to a Harley Nightrod. Today I looked at a Victory Jackpot and it has made me think again.
I'd be keen to hear good or bad on either..........I'm a fairweather rider mainley one up and predominatley open rd riding. :ride:

Hello, there are two blokes that ride with me that have the victory motorcycles, one the kingpin and the other is the vagas i think, they both love there bikes and they go well, im sure they are made by Pollaris in Canada. Myself im a Harley Owner thru and thru, i looked at updating my old softail last year with the 8 ball but thought i might regret it so i purchased a 2007 wideglide and i bloody love it. :2thumbsup

Hmmm. Well, and though I love my Harley, the V-Rod is just another Harley really and you'll see loads of them around. The Victory bikes get great reviews and they have the exclusivity factor.

So long as you can be sure there'd be parts support etc, I'd give the Victory a go over a V-Rod.

Still love my Fat Bob though. :-)

I'd take the victory...haven't riden one tho.
Sound grouse,look hot,not many around.

Have ridden a mates nightrod wasn't that impressed overall.
no ground clearance, deceptive performance, felt more like a big single than the previous twins i have ridden.
good brakes once you get used to the them, (nothing nothing shit there they are)

My vote also goes for the Victory...

Much much cooler than a Hog with Volkswagen motor

I dunno...night rod special looks pretty badass, its on my list of bikes I want. Victory cruisers look good too, I like the 8 ball. Would really come down to personal preference. Id probably go with the night rod *personal preference*...I like the whole drag bike look plus you can get jack up kits for them to return them to normal v rod height.

Hmmmm

NightRod or Jackpot?

Victory or H-D?

Whichever would I choose?

let me think....for about a nanosecond!

I'm obviously biased but - Victory all the way!!!

The Nightrod/Jackpot is an interesting pair to choose between. I would have thought maybe a Rocker C/Jackpot choice or a Nightrod/Hammer choice

Did you try the Hammer at all? It has the smaller diameter front wheel but the same rear as the Jackpot. The S (the blue and white one) has the the Stage II cam as stock for more added oommphah!

The Jackpots are the sexy ones of the range with beautiful lines to start with and plenty of aftermaket bling to add as time and wallet allows. If you were at Bretts shop yesterday you would have seen the Corey Ness Signature series Jackpot.......shes right purdy.

I could ramble on for a while - feel free to ask me anything about the Victorys - I loves 'em

I prefer the pushrod HD's. The Victory shop is just up the road from me and I see them all the time out front. 100hp out of the box, OHC, fancy suspension etc makes them pretty good, just a bit too blingy for me and I would worry about the dealer backup its a pretty small operation here. Been thru this with another low volume brand.

It's not what others think its what you want anyway.

I'd buy the Jackpot if it were made by Harley......:woohoo:

When I was living in the Isle of Man a few years ago there was a Victory Owners' Club get together there (not in a field with tents y'understand but at a posh country club). I heard one owner (some actor from the TV show 'Casualty') explaining to a passer by that it wasn't a Harley. I wondered how many times he'd had to do that and it is one thing that'd piss me off about them.

Still..... Nice bikes and getting nicer with each model. In a few years, who knows :-)

It's not necessarily something you grow tired of....

Fair enough but I think I would.

Weather, work, and a new baby have conspired to keep me off my Fat Bob for two weeks. Took it for a wee blast tonight and was reminded what a damn fine bike it is (the first H-D I've not felt the need to mess with - well, maybe the fork internals - cartridge emulator some day). Doesn't mean I won't enjoy seeing more Victory bikes (or other cool cruisers) about.

Bikes. They're just f'kin' great.

I haven't ridden either bike, so don't know much about them. However, the few Victory's I have looked at recently, appear to be bloody good bikes, and possibly better in the finish and detail than the Harley's.

The only way to know whats the best for you though ... is check them both out, and take them for a good ride!

But yeah ..... I know if I was laying down that kind of money for a new bike, I know which one it would bewhich one I'd be getting !!! :niceone:

You really have got to try them both, the night rod special was just painful to ride for me (stupid clam position) the night rod was a much better bike imo, better riding position more sensible rear tyre etc.

If it was a choice of those two and I was close to a victory dealer, I'd go for the Victory, however there's the Fatbob and the XR1200, both handle well and are fairly swift.

Haven't been much help at all really have I?. Oh well ride em first and enjoy whatever you get. Let us know :niceone:

Check the warranty on the Victory - I have seen in a USA magazine they are offering 5 year warranties over there for a limited time! Must be pretty good to offer that.

See if you local dealer can match it.

What's the resale on a Victory like? After all it's still not a Harley.......

Had a look and thats where it stopped. I decided that the Nightrod style was what sold me in the end. Two great brands and two fine machines.

My garage looks real good now.
Thanks for all the imput peops. :Punk:

I saw the Vic's at big boys toys and thought I would consider them when I was gunna upgrade........However the Nightrod wasent a consideration till much later when I became more serious.
Other considerations also crept in as I went along fact finding and in the end I decided the Rod best suited me.
