Now I know AGP 8x still has a pretty good bandwidth speed, but srsly, AGP?
Better be a dedicated HTPC!

Nothing wrong with AGP. PCI-E isn't that much better at the moment although it is the way forward and you can't buy a motherboard without it anymore.

plenty of offers out there so thanks for that. will sort them out and make a deal in the next day or so.
As for 8XAGP! The CPU is a XP2600+ with ONE core! Oh I dont know how I will manage.
Actually, the plan being as I brought a AMD9450 yesterday (real nice BTW) which is seriously kitted that my old XP2600+ will become a media machine connected to TV just to store DVD and DivX on. And just to make you fall off your chair I am not even connecting it to the internet.

nothing wrong with the "old" machines. But in saying that, it is awesome to use a super fast machine. The only bugger is my supercomputer will be outdated before xmas

This was true maybe... 3-4 years ago?
PCI-E is a lot better now.

hold fire on this. I am now looking at doing a USB to TV solution but staying reserved on it. Got some decisions to make.
