Bloody interesting reading that. And quite a surprise as to there winner to be honest.

Perhaps most interesting for me, is the dyno they tested on the Honda and Yamaha both had less outright peak horsepower than the Ducati.

Jesus Christ can the CBR cut a quick quater mile time though!

yeah...if we stick lower gearing on all the other bikes...similar to hondas...the honda would get well and truley molested...like normal :)

and then it might have decent fuel milage aswell...lol

I stopped after reading the ducatti report, seems all they do is bitch about the V engines using too much gas! (i know the R1 isnt a V4 but it is, really, put one next to a VFR400!)

Pfft! ride what ya like, don't take any of that shit too seriously, ride before you buy and if you like it then sweet, if ya don't then don't buy it. If you're brand loyal then you already know what you want.... Simple.

Just can't accept that its a good bike can ya................................there is life outside Suzuki bro:Pokey:

They didn't point out that the US 1000rr's all have a different ECU than our euro models, the US ones have the timing retarded over 10.5rpms for some reason, they all run a Bazazz Z-Bomb to give them full power up the top.

like I hinted...what if we lower the gearing so all the machines have the same final drive figures and see what happens...Honda have just pulled a very clever media stunt by having the quickest bike...by way of gearing. clever buggers!!

and another thing...if these bikes are not tested on on a factory pro or similar dyno...gear will effect the HP figures too. only really way to find out whos king of the power, is bench test all the engines from the primary drive gear before the gearbox

Not yet. Im taking it in tomorrow as it has ran out of oil again. ( The more km i put on it the more fucked up the engine gets it seems. Im almost at 9k, I wonder what would happen if i just keep going till something like 50k, Id probably end up with some really fucked up and weared out engine. I think NZ just got a fail boat of these fucked up CBRs from the early production lines. Bugger.

I heard that 09 has its shit sorted, but since the fucking price raise i dont think theyll just give it to me. And I dont feel like paying extra 5 grand just for sorting out the issue that im not even responsable for.

Not sure what will happen, but Im not keeping this one for sure. I gues honda will have to give me a new bike everytime one fuckes up... till i get one that is working fine huh.

The main problem is that I love the bike tho, Im so used to it now, it is heaps of fun and is way better then many other bikes ive ridden.

If they keep fucking me up, I might take my money back and pull some ends to get a new Aprilia, but im not sure yet.

Mental facility- in your position supporting honda over their cbr1000rr seems illogical. While the model has drawn accolades for handling, mid range power etc and is arguably as iconic as the original zx10 and k6 [no argument from me], a huge question mark remains over the oil usage issue. Honda sites have threads running to several hundreds of pages on the problem, you are on your second cbr1000rr and experiencing the same issue. Oil usage on this model is a massive problem by any measure, and regardless of magazine tests or dynamic superiority must relegate the model to a very distant last place.

To provide background to oil usage. Of the following bikes I have owned non have required a top up between oil change:
Ducati monster 33K, z750 36K, k4 39K, k6 66k. Additionally a collegue owns a 97' cbr600 with over 120k and no measurable oil usage.

Im not supporting it, I just try to post every shoot out I come across. As much as I love it, I hate it almost as much since it has this massive problem. So if someone asked me if they should get a new blade i would say hell no, unless they were buying my bike at 100% retail price.=)

Depending on your definition of first and last really. What weighting did they place on reliability? Or should that not factor into a purchase decision?
