HEY there, Just thought ild introduce myself
Just got my first bike, FXR150. I dont have my license yet but should have it by next weekend. Ive had two rides on it, one in the backyard in the country in the whops, and the other in a empty car park. Ive nearly got all my gear (still depressed i cant ride the dang thing).
Did i mention i love the bike?! i love that its only a 150cc, but looks gutsy and goes faster than my boyfriends old gn(i dont know that for sure, but i presume it does=)).
Ive also had all the shit from family, friends etc saying "should i say goodbye now" or "your f**king stupid", but its my life and its something i have to do for myself. Although i understand the risks, im not assuming im immune to crashing either.
So just thought ild tell you my story and introduce myself:sweatdrop
=)

Good for a start, then you want bigger and faster, by then you are sorta capable, then you have a bad ride day, you need to recognise this, stop, pull yourself together, and carry on.
Enjoy the riding, the company, and the parties, keep your rubber on the road.
Don't drink and ride.............................................. ................................

You get two types of response from people when you say you ride a motorcycle.
a) Jelous and misinformed - "walking roadkill..." or "it's so dangerous blah blah"
and
b) 95% of people - "holy fuck that's so cool" ... "my dad used to ride <insert bike>"
As a girl on a bike there's also probably a range of pick up lines you'll also have to learn to deal with haha.

Well done on getting your first bike . Glad to hear that you are getting all the right gear that goes with it. Take it easy, you don't have to prove anything to anybody. Riding is about the joy, freedom, challenge and fun. Glad you got somebody to give you some pointers as well as checking out this site. Once you have mastered the basics do a course like RRRS.
Take care and enjoy.

First and foremost, welcome! And I'm quite jealous, FXRs are awesome little beasts. I'm still working towards my license lol. :sweatdrop
Not sure if it's still going but Quasimoto was having a sale on ladies' pants, I got some and they are pretty good. They have armour in the knees and shins, made of leather so super protective if you fall. Not sure about waterproof-ness though...

Make sure you put good tyres on her - maximise the grip with the coming winter and rain. Take care, take it easy and have fun. Just remember to relax that grip on the handle bars and lean with the bike.

Howdy, welcome to the fold !
P.N means palmy right ?
If you are looking for some sweet roads to go for a hoon on, paihiatua track is always fun (in the dry..), the gorge (look out for roadworks), the ballance road (between gorge and paihiatua track), saddle road etc..
Always good to see babes on bikes !
Keep safe.

Don't worry it'll come with time. It's worth getting an instructor to coach you into good habits right from the start though. It'll make the learning curve smoother.

dunno if you have spotted the manawatu threads un der meetings and events but sometimes they have rides posted up ther and they are a great bunch to ride with. im sure if u wanted some lessons from an experienced KB member/ tutor then posting a thread will sort you out, there are plenty of fast riders out there but that doesnt mean they have it right. get as much practice in corners and emergency breaking as you can to get used to your bike. pity palmy doesnt have mentor rides. (mods should organise this with some of the old and grizzly riders if they have time) lol. questions or keen for a ride with a group then txt away, 0275797311

welcome to kb Danielle .. and congrats on the learners ..
a few of us ride around the palmy area & more than happy to have a learner rider along for the rides .. we all started in the same place
manawatu area does have a mentor which is sugilite .. as he has been my mentor over the last 2 or so yrs I can highly recommend him
there are always rides heading out .. feilding riders have regular sunday rides (when its not raining) and as soon as daylight savings start there is a fri nite cafe run in palmy (something to look forward too)
however if you want to meet some of the locals I am sure we can organise a cafe run to say hi :) and you can always post in meeting & events .. there is generally someone about who is keen for a ride at short notice ...

Dont worry about the family and friends thing, mine all told me I was just tempory and gave me a week till my funeral, that was 1981, still here.
Find a mentor on here that you can get along with and get a few tips, and the only stupid question is the one you don't ask.
