Go the gixxer, just keep in mind how much more powerful than ur 250 it is, take things slowly, and you'll eventually grow into it.

Don't go the hardcore sportsbike route, a Buell is a much better idea.

We have enough narrow minded buggers on this site as it is.

sport bike or muscle bike?

Which image do you prefer?

Mitsi Evo 9 or Chevy Camaro?
Finesse or muscle?

Only you can make that decision... :)

I would say go for the gixxer, but I'm biased as I want a gixxer 750 as my next bike. :)

Not with the k8 600. They gave it some mid-range after losing sales to the CBR600 and 675's.

K8/k9 GSXR600's start making reasonable power at 5000 rpm. (or at least are rideable at 5000 rpm)

I went from a Honda Magna 250 (cruiser style) to a CBR600F and am loving it. Heaps more power but as stated above it's all in the wrist...take it easy and build up the confidence.

I'm still getting used to keeping the revs up. I'm still changing wayyyyy too early. The lights turn green, take off and up to 50kms without changing gear...no probs!

My 750 is a beaut, stable and fast enough, But depends on how long you've been riding. Can be lethal in the wrong hands, so take it easy man! Definately go for the 750.

Ride a few v-twins first. If you still want frantic revs and power in the rev range that riders hardly ever use, buy a sports four.

As for the rest. Nothing wrong with jumping on a 600 or 750. Ride it like you want to keep riding it and all will be fine. Young guy down here brought a K8 600 and he spent a while working out how to ride it and now is going real good on it and it is still in top nick.

I'd also agree with getting a higher powered sports bike. Why waste your time with the lower powered non-faired examples? A litre bike, at the very minimum.

Seriously though, I'd take them all out for a ride and see which you like best. I sometimes wish I had purchased something a little less sports orientated when I'm commuting for my first 'big' bike, but I get over that pretty quickly. I definitely wished I'd taken more out while I was looking, however.

Cops won't bother you and moving slightly faster than the flow of traffic keeps cars from sitting on your tail when travelling on cop and car infested highways.
