You may still get a great stock liquidation bargain.

Always sad when a well respected name goes under.

This was a 'startup' so I'd say it's different to the long-timers folding.

As much as I know the crew there were nice people, I'd have to say they chose the wrong time to start a company selling expensive money holes.

Pity that it didn't work as Phill knows his stuff when it comes to sorting people out with what they wanted.

What were they selling other than Moto Morinis and gear?

but that's the prob with your premis (unless you own something like you've got) : the modern kit isn't user serviceable without the right gear and knowledge

inst the Honda first service at 24 000 km? that leaves oil and tyres , and crash damage .....

Gutted about this.

I was going in to purchase gloves...

...as all the stock was being loaded into a truck.

Great bunch of people and a good atmosphere - a real shame it didn't take off.

Bad timing I guess.

Phil is a good guy.. i dont think we've seen the last of that crew though ...wouldnt surprise me if Phil is working on an internet thing right now .. would really make sense.. maybe if he did that he could stock Simpson Helmets ( hint hint)

I don't know but I've been in this business long enough to see the writing on the wall. Wages alone should kill it assuming the work is comming in
I am tapping this out on phone so it's brief .
Anyway bike shops are customer service shops which means we assist the customer to go about their business. Which is riding bikes
I left that open because my station is next and I want to see how people read into this

The bike industry is actually pretty healthy here still Stephen. I've been in the industry for around 23 years now...and while it has (and always will have) it's ups and downs...the established players that do most things right will always survive.

Ya know...I love offering a customer a beer while we talk shit(ok...they have the beer...I talk the shit). Think that's gonna happen shopping for a new fridge? Tis a great place to work as a motorcycle nut.

If there is one bike shop in town and bike riders that need help that shop will survive,

but imagine if most of the profit came from a non repair side of the shop or that there was a high turn over of quick repair ( tyres and oil )

I got bored with tyres and oil ,

New Zealand is /was taking a few bikes from the auctions here ( for 4 million people that's not too bad )

i actually got OUT of the industry BECAUSE i love bikes .. now i have free time to ride them and i dont spoil my classics by riding the newest and hottest ..

i always said a biker working in a bike shop was alot like being an OBGYN in Hollywood.. sure.. you get to stare at Angelina's "Down There " bits, but just TRY to take it home afterward..

I see the Alpha motorcycles website is still up. Can you still order stuff?

I'm obviously quite reluctant if they have gone under. The wesbite says they are still open at Newton Road but I went past the other day and they are definitely closed.

I wanted to get an LS2 helmet for the wife but I guess not now. Cycletreads have some LS2s but they don't have the right size and they are not getting any more in.
