Ok guys, trying to do some planning for this weekend for those of us in wellies who are heading up to the track day. Track day is the sunday, but I for one can't be f*(&#d riding up, riding all day, and riding home. Im trying to organise either:
A. Car Pool with van/trailer for bikes
B. Group Ride up
C. Sat night accomodation

I have a wagon, but no tow bar so I can only take people and gear. Anyone got a van/ute/car and trailer?
I also MAY be able to provide accomodation on the southern side od the lake, aproxx 30 mins from taupo. However I wll need to arrange this so will need to plan reasonably soon.... Either that or book into backpackers in Taupo?

Input please guys....

Dont think we would be going anywhere near kune on the way up. Quicker to go desert road. If I stay at my place it is near Turangi anyway, so will def go desert road. If we go all the way to taupo your more then welcome to meet us at the Turangi intersection or something? Or though your only 30 minutes from Taupo by then so you might just want to carry on?

How does this sound. It would depend on how many you have coming but we have an empty house at the moment. You could come from Welly town to Napier. 3 of us are going from Napier to Taupo. It takes an hour to hour and 10 min from here. Petrol station in Bay View to fill before we head to Taupo.
We are 10 km North of the Taupo turn off on the Wairoa road.. No cell phone coverage but you can make free national calls to land lines from here if you need to. We can organise a feed and beds showers etc then leave for Taupo in the morning. No cost unless you break somethin. Bikes can be sheded. You could all go via the Desert road home?

Depends on how many people are coming up. We could accommodate 7 in beds and 3-4 in S/bags and stretchers. If you had that sort of number we would go back to town for a feed on Saterday night but if it is only three or four we could cook here.

Cool I would think 8.15am, leave, at the Bay View BP. PM me on Friday or Saturday to confirm time. Hour ten to get up there Fuel up down to track by 10 to start the day. It is about 130 k's to Taupo from Napier. Mr Policeman and his big lights in his flash car likes that road.
So we have 4 bikes, so far.

Hey, I'm urgently trying to sort accomodation out. It is for myself and VTWIN. I'm thinking a motel room is easiest, but I'll ask him and that house might be an idea? Is it still available?

Yep. First in get the beds the others the floor in bags. We are 18 km's from town. If it's only a few we will cook here but if it's many we can shoot in to town and pick up food. Read other post so you know where we are and what is planned. Be good to have a few stay. Will be a nice ride in the morning before we hit the track.

OK, well looks like I will be riding up to Manfield sat morning to watch the d1 for a while, then through to napier for the night. If weather is crap I will go direct to napier. Anyone else keen for this?

P/M me and send me an ETA for Saturday if you want to stay. I can come down to Bay View or Napier and ride back so you can find our place on Saturday. I note the rest of the Welly crew are planning a ride here

This path could be a option for me as I could visit and stay with relatives in Napier.

The road through Onga Onga to Fernhill is ok for the trip up.

Are you meeting up and leaving from a service at Bayveiw?

Just keeping options open at this stage.

Yep we are leaving from the BP shop in Bay View at 7.am There are a few others tagging along for the ride. Two groups really. One slower and one faster. But everyone just might stick together. What ever works. You can not get lost going to Taupo from here. We will have 5-10 bikes but it is down to the weather for the non track day people. You are welcome to come along.
K/Bers for the track day are likely to be Skunk,More Power, Grumpy and myself. ZXR250 might join us if he comes over to stay on Saturday night. Khigg and a few non members are talking about a ride up for a look.
Options are good.

Cheers, I have pm'd StoneChucker to query the cost/details of motel as I would prefer to stay in taupo (as my bike would use an entire tank to get through the hill!). I will keep you posted and let you know ASAP. :2thumbsup
