Hey Gremlin...

Post up your pic of the old tag anyway I reckon. It still makes the thread interesting watching how many bikes got there and missed out.

I read the rules and actually it doesn't say he has to go to the new place after. It says he has to post it up after he has got the tag. I think it does say no archived footage for taking the tag. But again for placing the next tag does that matter?

Because frankly if I'm out at an interesting spot today and I think it would make an interesting future tag then should I take it now and save it for the day that I'm in? Must post up on the group.

You'll have to take a blat south now. Imagine how many km's you'll clock up.

:hitcher: well, rule 1 says find it, rule 2 says "take it to a new location". Now technically, you could post up in the thread you have it, but thats boring. Usually, people find them, then take a pic of the next one, then post up both. If you missed out (ie, say TOTO followed the rules :bleh:) I would miss out.

Because frankly if I'm out at an interesting spot today and I think it would make an interesting future tag then should I take it now and save it for the day that I'm in?
Well, following the rules, no photos from file, so you would collect the tag so to speak, rush to the new place, take another pic, rush back to kb, so find out someone else has already beaten you :pinch:

One of them is probably right then....

The funny thing is the near misses. When someone posts up and is just beaten. We've had a couple of those and hopefully as we go all the missed ones will be posted. It adds another dimension to the thread.

The guy that got herald Island second rode out to Whatipu for his next shot before posting up. lol. As this goes on it's only a matter of time before all of us miss out.

Of course we get to find some interesting places.

Sounds fine. What impressed me was the person that got the Herald Island tag. I took the photo at the road with the wharf and pier behind, he wheels his bike across the wharf and down the pier because it was late at night and his camera wasn't too crash hot (phone). There was a guy that looked like he was living on his boat just below. he must have been confused by the biker wheeling his bike backwards down the pier.

Yep the plane is gone and we're waiting for the new tag.

If you've seen the pic of the plane you'll see the guy that got it wandered down at night, rode the bike through the pedestrian access and past the locked gates to get his shot next to the plane.

I can see that there will be no obstacle big enough for these guys. We're collecting some interesting night shots.

We've recently discovered that there are a few gifted members using electronic tracking like google and google earth. So I'm learning there are others ways to find things.

Unfortunately some also thumbed through the electronic stuff and got way too many options instead of the White pages book that you physically turn the pages on.

The thing is finding it's feet and over in the social group there is a list of "other tag-o-rama threads" that give you a good idea of what's going on.

I suspect the current holder of the tag is going for a longish ride.

All good fun though.

Here's an easy tag.

In Auckland City

South of the bridge
West of SH1
And East and North of Carrington Road, Mt Albert Road, Campbell Road.

It's a well known motorcycle sculpture.

It's in a fringe city suburb. So Clockwise that would be Parnell, Grafton, Eden Terrace, Kingsland, Ponsonby, Grey Lynn, Herne Bay or Freemans Bay.

If I was to cut that number down I'd say you could put the suburbs into alphabetical order. Take the first 4 and discard the others. So you're working at the lower end of the alphabet.

Good luck and hopefully we'll see the pic soon.

You need to post over in the social group.

Iv been wondering if there was a Auckland tag-o-rama, Iv been playing a global one on another forum. Its pretty neat, get to see alot of out of the way places in different countries. Id say just carry on with the one thats already there, Im prety sure I know where it is too, but I wont be able to get there for a few days. :/

Just wondering if this can be resuscitated???

Going to suggest sticking to the Auckland Council area to start with... also, a tag which can be accessed by any type of bike...

Well going to give it a go, here's a starter...

Is this close enough? Next tag should be up tomorrow or Monday if that is fine, given the old Auckland city council limitation.

That's fine by me. I wasn't thinking of the old Auckland City Council area, rather the new Auckland Council area [supercity boundaries]

Outside Eden Park on Walters Road

Not sure if this will work - fingers crossed - https://www.google.co.nz/maps/@-36.8736538,174.7444896,3a,75y,144.8h,83.06t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sq_txzIjTPwW4j-gypCkbAA!2e0!7i13312!8i6656

Well it did... I am surprised...

An afterthought - as Auckland Council area is as large as it is, might be worth giving an area such as the old council areas before supercity days...

Sorry this took a little longer than expected. I didn't think my bike was up to fording the motorway home yesterday, in what ended up as a pretty nothing storm at least when I would have been travelling.

Turns out, rather than having the rest of today for the next person to grab, I couldn't even get the spot I wanted so this will have to do:

Oops, should have been on to that. Access past here has been curtailed recently. No more tourists getting a look, at least not with out their legs. Stetching your legs past the fence will give you a view of the previously tagged location, if you look really carefully.

Initially I thought of City Works Depot, but it was too close to the Skytower to get that sort of distant view. Then I was thinking of the Wellington St/Union St area, but couldn't think of a carpark in that area. I was scanning around on G maps looking for possibilities and saw the location, but wasn't familiar with it and couldn't think why there would be such a massive sign there. So I spent ages browsing billboard company websites trying to find out where their big billboards are before I resorted to Street View - what a waste of time - should have gone straight to Street View.

I must say, it was a tough tag given the lack of detail visible at night.

Looking forward to the next tag now. Hurry up you lot...:)

I don't know, the locations in the background of 3 major landmarks gives some good triangulation.
Mangroves narrow the search area to a couple of places.
The proximity to the water of the road should make for only a short nose at a map.

Sorry for the delay putting this one up. I took it the same day but kept forgetting to prep it and post it. Hopefully there's still a bit of fine weather left for this weekend.

You'll probably need to zoom in a bit to see the subject of this photo. It has a long history dating back to 1900 and was the focus of quite a bit of controversy in 2006 (to be fair - it's often the focus of a bit of controversy).

The over banding where the white car is the location to me when wet:
On the DR it is the beginning of a gentle drift. Sometimes both ends.
On the 1300's it barely warrants a mention but when it does is magical.
