Before that, were scooters auto-clutch? I'm not sure, but I don't think so... I'm pretty sure they didn't use variators etc. and the Vespas etc. had a proper clutch and gearchange. So it looks like the use of a scooter you describe was in fact sanctioned and designed for with the Super Cub :D

And big wheels too! Are those 17"? Can't see the rear wheel though. Maybe Soichiro pinched more ideas than we give him credit for :doh:

Is that a rear brake lever on the left handlebar though? Can't carry a beer crate like that. And it's a DKW, so it'll be 2-stroke and chew through fuel and oil, which cuts into beer money. So the Super Cub remains the true student-lifestyle-enabler.

bah. Humbug. It may have escaped your notice , but the Hobby has a big flat platform in front of the seat. Exactly the right size to take a HUGE stack of beer crates. Far more than could be hung from a handle bar. Students nowadays have no capacity for beer. And being a DKW , you can run it on kerosene if you're skint.

Been a long time since i read ye olde Craccum (so it sounds like its still around!), but this would be far preferable to some of the crap that was in there in the earlier half of the 1st decade of the 21st century.
