Michelin and Bridgestone have both launched new tyres for 2004.

Michelin has brought in the Pilot Power (gay name)  which will replace the Pilot Sport and Yamaha will be fitting the new tyre as standard to its 2004 R1. Bridgestone’s new BT-014 will come standard on the Suzuki GSX-R600 and GSX-R750, Honda Fireblade, and Kawasaki’s ZX-10R as OEM kit

The BT014 replaces the BT010 and is apparently made of a stiffer construction and hasbetter shock absorption.

Bridgestone launched its BT002 supersport tyre for the track, superseding the BT001 race tyre.

I've had a great run with Bridgestones in the past particularly BT010s. that bt014 should be a dependable tyre, I might try them at some stage. I know people who've had a great run on the pilots too so I'm sure the powers are pretty good also. It's nice to see the tyre companies trying hard & developing their products. it's all good news for us riders.

Can anyone recommend a good set of tyres for TL1000R. I know it chews them up and my riding isn't that hardcore, so something middle of the road would good. (not in the middle of the road, or I'd get run over....uh)

Not that I'd know first-hand but Diablos (not Corsas) seem indicated.

It's not really a bike that wants long-life tyres though, is it? The 014s might be yer best bet.

Bridgestone has recently upgraded the 020. About the only thing the same is the name.

apparently the Pilot Powers are a new generation Tyres from Michelins experience in MotoGP (aren't they always). But its supposedly the same type of compound that can handle High horsepower output and the distance (tyre heaven). If they're half as good as the ads claim they'll be a front runner for sure.

Only problem i see is the mental link with Austin flying a plane!
they're groovy tyres tho baby, YEAH!

I was running BT-010's on the TLS which I liked a lot. I've just recenlty replaced them with the BT-012SS's to give those a try. You might want to click on the link in my sig.

012's are a very sticky tyre (and hardcore)

The M1 will give you good mileage. Try the 020's - harder compound for only a small sacrifice in grip.

D208's wear well - but can affect steering.

You sound like you want more of a touring biased tyre (don't be mislead tho, as some of the fastest riders I know ride on touring tyres - so grip isn't an issue).
