It's apparently gonna be a little windy out there today!

Ride safe people - I'd already decided to cadge a ride in a car today.

Can second this. Just rode home from work. Extremely windy in places. Blown into the other lanes more than once.

Thats unfortunate, its really still and blue up here, heaps of sun at the moment, I think the CB is hungry for a run today.

Normal Wellington wind is ok. Today is especially dangerous. We have closed access to floors of the building (under construction) due to the extreme hazard posed by the wind. Take care folks.

Hope Kendog's Precious doesn't get blown over!!

Pah! Just a gentle zephyr this morning -- it only impacted halfway up the powerpole as it blew past. Its driver walked away unscathed.

I took public transport. I'm not having the drama of my bike blowing over again thanks.

Rode in early - about 7am. Ngauranga interchange had a few cross winds and customhouse quay near the railway station and shell station (usual suspects).

Park your bike next to a building if you can and wear them crash bungs.

Its windy and bucketing down here in the rapa, so not a good time to come over Laxi, a few reports of power poles down as well.

Rode to work this morning and did not notice anything out of the ordinary, except for the fact that it was not raining at the time! You get used to the wind if you live here in Welly...

It's not the riding that's the issue.

Couple of commuter bikes lying on their sides right now.

If you park there, you may wish to go check.

Wash that damned mouth of yours out... :spanking: bad weather's the best time to be on a bike... cars slow down and pile up, we go straight through!

Came in early this morning and a little bit of cross wind in the usual places but no real drama - except for the truck that locked his brakes and slid into and back out of my lane on the gorge. Certainly woke me up!

The windy city is not the only place getting a bit of wind... its been blowing a bit down here. I had a few days off ... so I went for a tootle today. Got nudged around a bit by the wind, but no real worries...

Well it was certainly the windiest day I have experienced since taking up riding bikes just over a year ago.
I was only doing about 50km/hr coming over the top of the Wainui Hill this morning on my little Scorpio and the wind was that strong I was thinking of needing to change down into fourth gear to get down this hill but was to busy fighting the bike and keeping it in my lane. Damn thing seemed to have a mind of its own.
Bloody good fun though, I had a big grin all the way down the hill.

Hmm I just thought it made for an exciting ride in this morning! A couple of fun corners... But I did make sure I was early enough to get an inside bike park (which I would have got anyway considering how few people rode today).

But then, I only ride through Brooklyn and town - I probably would have avoided the motorway :)

No instead you had to put up with some twat calling you with a minutes notice to help pick up a new bike.

Thanks BTW.

For me there is no alternative transport. That was part of the deal when I got my bike. My wife needs the cage, so I take the bike, regardless. It's fine with me.
