Greetings & salutations KBers,
Another newbie posting.
I've been lurking around for some time now, but never really had anything to talk about. Was more interested in reading up as much as possible first. Well, I've definitely got the bug — :doctor: — got my BHS, my shiny new blue 6L & am now looking for a suitable 250 steed.
So, I went for a test ride today on a couple of likely candidates. (Actually, I was pretty sure which one I wanted, but thought it only fair that I jump on another for comparison's sake.)
My first choice is (was?) a twin. Solid, big, sporty configuration, good brakes, very easy controls. Thought I had it sussed.
Well, f#*k me if that 2nd one didn't catch me by surprise!
Inline 4, yellow, and a touring type set-up. Was not expecting it, but the bike was zippy, nimble & had a highly responsive throttle!
Now I'm torn...
I like the twin's seating position, controls & looks; but I like the inline 4's quick response & handling.
Hmmm... Some thinking to do I think.
There's only one thing for it really...
Another test ride. :ride:
best way to go, keep trying till you find the 1 you like

After another test ride of a couple more bikes, the twin won. And I have to say, I am enjoying learning to ride immensely. Feels rather weird when I jump back in a car...

cool glad you are enjoying riding :niceone:, you should do a track day , there not scary and you will learn alot about how your bike feels when corning and braking, it will make road riding alot safer as you will know what your bike can do (in a emergengy) if the dangerous car drivers do happen to try and screw you over , there a training rides in car parks that teach you good skills as well,
Cheers Jase

Cheers guys. Yeah, I'm quite keen for a track day one of these days — a colleague of mine goes to the Taupo track days to race his 2-smokers and has been encouraging me to get along. Also keen to get to those car park training rides. Practice, practice, practice... :)

hehe, yeah that bike was REALLY antisocial.... It was an H100 with an MB50 gearbox, mikuni carb and a big arse chamber on it. It was built and finely tuned by F5Dave himself!
Wish that I had never sold it, it was a beast with a horn on! :yeah: :yeah:

Unfortunately I had to sell it and now I bucket race a "diesel" FXR. Took me awhile to get used to it as I much prefer my 2 smokers for racing (race streetstock on an RG). Was up at Roy's Hill when it was like 40+++ degrees, didnt race but my man koba did. Neat track you'se fulla's have there... :niceone:

Welcome onboard KB DidJit.:)
As for the bikes you're looking at,i'd go for the peppiest,(as long as you are comfortable on it),as you will soon get used to the power, and as you graduate to your full license, might likely want to upgrade to a bigger bike.
Just my 10cents.
