You must be flaming pleased that you are gonna get that bike of yours all back together real soon......

How long will it take for the forks to arrive?

Wooo, be careful mate, I bid on a set of CBR forks on ebay, and the guy seemed pretty straight up, didnt win the auction but had sent him a msg re freight etc. Anyway about a week letter got an email from ebay, asking if I had any dealings with the guy, as he was suspected of selling stolen bits!
Or these from a legitimate dealer/wrecker? Whats the freight work out on something like that?

Yep its from a legit Motorcycle Wreckers/Parts stockists... They have done over 5000 dealings and have been members since 2002 they also have a 96% good rating and the only reason they get bad ratings is for failing to reply to e-mails... Definately took it into consideration...

Havnt payed yet, have to wait until 7 in the morning to ring Texas (as it is currently around 1 in the morning at the moment)

I don't believe you ever told us the story of what actually happened to get your bike in this predicament. Surely now enough time has past where you can have a laugh about it and tell us??? :yeah:
Over a virtual pint maybe?:apint:
It's make good reading for tomorrow night :niceone:

Went for a ride with Milky and Posh Tourer. Going at their pace (about 50% pace) not even going over the speedlimit, tyres were fairly warm, cranked it over, and as i was entering the corner "bang" the bike was on its side... Damage was done when it hit a sign post with the tank and seat (fucking the subframe) and then more damage was done when it hit the bank and did a few cartwheels before landing on me...

Did a scene examination and the only thing we could see was a dark line which looked to be desiel... Pretty shitty crashing when your not going hard...

Sounds good on the forks, not so good on the crash, plenty of tanks in the states though?

I was following him and he was fairly cranked over, but it happened halfway through the corner, not immediately after he'd gotten to that lean angle.

The post was a 4.5in square road sign, so it pretty much screwed the tank

Odd really....

Good going man. Just a question.... were the forks not repairable??? oh and ask CK getting a subframe for his bike was a bit of a mission but i think when searching for them i found a few places withthe 04/05 frames so they should be out there. :niceone:

Good luck hopefully see you on the road sometime :spudwave:

I've got two friends in the US who sell stuff on eBay - one in LA, and the other in Texas. If you get stuck, and want a reliable seller, let me know and I'll see what they've got. The guy in LA is currently parting out an almost new GSXR ( a thou, I think), while the guy in Texas is selling a lot of cruiser stuff (saddlebags, zorsts, seats, etc.) at the moment.

If you werent going to have a pillion on the back would it be cheaper to have a new subframe made by a welder?

Yeah thats a very good point chris, the guys in the workshop here at my work are pretty handy and we could make you something out of alliminium so it would be light as and we get the mean deals on materials because we buy so much, I could price you one up if you got the dimensions. I'd say it would be cheaper.

Good one Chris! That should get rid of your main worries. Happy to hear that you are back on track.

Confirmed man, I just spoke to tom in the workshop and went through it and he said there is no worries making one out of aliminium so long as you have the dimensions or one to copy off.

Cheers for the offers guys....

The total cost worked out to be $510 US and it should be at my house within a week to 2 weeks... Dont think the G/F will be too happy if i tell her she cant come on the bike (even though she weighs 45kg's) They have brand new race subframes for $225 US... Otherwise its about $200 US for a second hand one...

That or i will go OEM with the Subframe and Tank as they are within my price range... OEM forks cost 4 grand (NZ) :crybaby: Current forks are beyond repair, i was lucky the wheel didnt go through the radiator..

If you weld it properly, what is the problem with having a pillion on the back anyway? You could add in an extra brace or two for strength if you wanted....

Fuck mate, whats an extra 20kgs on the back? she's not the fattest person I know
