is any one else dissapointed with sky TV's coverage of sbk and motogp
how come they cant show these races live instead of cricket?
very dissapointing considering how many motorcyclists there are in New Zealand and we cant even get live racing.

Money. The broadcasting rights for premier motorsport is expensive and the audience appetite for it compared with other forms of competitive endeavour is small.

And cricket is the greatest sport ever invented, particularly test cricket. So there.

Chrispy,

Don't moan on here, contact Sky and tell them how you feel.

Anyone else, who feels the same should do the same.

The more people, who email them the more they take notice.

SKY is pay to view, if they don't listen you stop paying.

It is completely different to the free-to-air Channels

To whom it may concern

Like may other motorcycle racing fans i subscribed to sky so i could watch The MotoGP world championship and The World Superbike championship LIVE. You have been advertising all year that sky will be showing both of these events throughout the year with LIVE coverage. It astonishes me that not only last week did sky delay the showing of the Italian round of the World superbikes by more than 8 hours, but have again this week done the same to the French round of Motogp and South African Round of the World Superbikes. I understand that there is live Premier Football and international Cricket on around this time of year but i am interested to know and cant find a logical reason for why sky cannot show at least one of these motorcycle events LIVE on at least one of your 4 sports channels?

In my opinion Sky should be showing these events LIVE as promised or Should not advertise their sky packages as having these events live. The Motogp is shown delayed on TVNZ, so why am i paying for the same service with sky.

I would appreciate an answer to my query.

We just had the GP on. About 11pmish I think, our time. That was on FTA TV. The fracken cricket was on ONE HD our 'new' digital sports station.
Aust is changing to digital TV from analogue or some such crud.
We don't get any WSBK on regular TV & GP is never the whole race.

I have a mate who tapes them all (whole) for me - yea!

Enjoy the race everyone

Sky said bah bahh bahh fuk the bikes for the cricket ?

Hello Bryan

Thank you for your email.

The weekend is always a very hectic time for sports scheduling due to so many live events coming through and in the case of this weekend, it directly resulted in live events running across all three of our sport channels within the time that the French MotoGP event was due to air live.

On SKY Sport 1 we had live international cricket from 12:40am this morning whilst on SKY Sport 2 we had live EPL coverage from midnight, later followed by another live EPL fixture from 1:55am. On SKY Sport 3 we had live cricket from Sunday 17th May 10:20pm all the way through to this morning 6:30 am.

We understand that television viewing is subjective and any decision we take is never done so lightly but we do have to try and cater to all sporting codes that we have rights to. Unfortunately this will please some customers while frustrating others. Despite this we hope you enjoy the rest of the MotoGP season we have to offer.

Please feel free to contact SKY Television Customer Services on 0800 759 759 for further information, alternatively please respond via return email and we will endeavour to reply within 24 hours.

With kind regards,

Fima

I can understand you put live cricket on, but the ppl that watch motorcycle racing don't really care about cricket 2 - 3 matches live ,Why show 3 live cricket matches when there is 2 games of league on you delay one? If you don't want to show the motorcycle racing live give to some one who can? I don't think sky realizes how many ppl follow motorcycle racing

haha, i wish i had a nice responce like bryan.

I got this crap.

Thank you for your email.

Due to the very fluid nature of sport, changes can occur for many reasons such as change in start times, durations of live events, cancellations, postponements, technical faults, taped events not arriving on time or faulty when received as well as changes received on a daily basis from either the host broadcaster or supplier of events sent through to us via satellite feed.

Thank you again for your feedback, and while we are aware of the inconvenience that can be caused when programmes are not played out accordingly, we certainly do our utmost to keep these changes to a minimal wherever possible

Rest assured your feedback has been registered with our Sports Department.

Please feel free to contact SKY Television Customer Services on 0800 759 759 for further information, alternatively please respond via return email and we will endeavour to reply within 24 hours.

guys think about this there was about 15 cricket game on last week most of them covered by sky and two major Bike racing events that happen every two weeks and they delay those because they could not move obne cricket game when they have the other 14 live to air.

thats how they balance things out?

I had sky ring me today and ask me if I wanted to add the rugby channel I asked if this call was recorded ( most call centres are) and let them hve it with both barrels asked about a motorsport channel to their reply we always have live motorsports on sky sport.

I then asked if they could also cancel subscriptions as well as adding the rugby channel. I then cancelled my sky sport subscription after telling them I was paying for live sport and no getting it when I can pay no money and get it off the internet live.

I was phoned about 15 minutes later asking why I cancelled my response was bring back live bike racing and I will renew my subscription

Ive just been complaining on FaceBook about exactly the same thing!!!

And not only have they delayed the WSB twice in 2 weeks, but they also chopped the first 7 or 8 laps off of the 125's in MotoGP this week.

All for damned LOCAL Indian cricket ffs!!! As far as I can tell, it wasnt even international cricket, but some local league in India, with invited international cricketers as guests, or captains, or something equally daft.

They ALSO did the same thing to F1 qualifying last race, and did a number of times last year for F1 races and bike racing.

And what was it each time?? Cricket!!! And come to think of it, AGAIN, it was some damned match that NZ wasnt even playing it (I think INDIA v's Sra Lanka or something similar).

Makes me wonder about WHO is manning the timetabling for Sky.

robboh

My email to sky...

To whom it may concern,

I am getting somewhat concerned regards the recent programming changes where motor racing, and motorcycle racing have been significantly delayed from live coverage, seemingly to enable the live presentation of yet another indian cricket game.

The WSB have been delayed 2 weeks running. The French MotoGP this week was also delayed AND the first 5 - 7 laps of the race were missing from the 125's. Qualifying for one of the F1 races was also recently delayed. And finally, I can remember sitting up last year waiting for a F1 race, and watching the cricket extending on, and the F1 getting smaller. I ended missing that race altogether as it wasnt replayed at a time suitable for me to watch it.

In short, I am getting to the point where I am seriously considering canceling my Sky subscription, or at least the sports component. You advertise these events as LIVE, which does not appear to have been the case of late.

While I understand occasional programming scheduling conflicts, I also perceive somewhat of a partiality to cricket over-riding other sports. Interestingly, every time that one of the motor-races has had delayed coverage, that I can recall, it has been due to cricket. Conversely, I dont really recall seeing any delayed cricket matches while working through the MySky EPG.

Please note that I subscribe to the Sports component on Sky, only for motor racing (MotoGP, WSB, F1). I have no interest in rugby, cricket, etc etc etc. If I am not getting live racing, then I will go and get it elsewhere. The only saving grace at present is the fact that MySky enabled me to record / watch those races at a later date.

Please keep in mind that, internationally, F1 and MotoGP actually have far larger audiences than just about every other sport.

Regards

Prof - R

You lot sound like a bunch of Coro Street/Eastenders fans.

For what I would call a minority sport in NZ, I think the Sky coverage is pretty good. To show all the Moto GP classes including each race build up is better than they do for rugby (how often do you see the curtain raiser game?)

Other than accidentally finding out the result I have no issue with delayed coverage, most of the live times I am sleeping anyway so I tape it and watch it the next day after work.

Like your style Chrispy121, even if you suffer eventually, by missing the races when they finally do show them.
I had a call selling Rialto last week, I never miss a chance to have a moan when they call me. I am also a regular pest by phone and E mail. Every little bit helps.
ps I'm talking Motogp and Wsbk here, I have no interest in our local scene. Gaz.

I don't care if it's live as long as they have cover the entire race and they stick to the advertised time and channel.

Better that they show the lot on Monday morning, than they advertise it will be live on Sky Sport 1 and then switch to SS3 at the last minute to make way for cricket.

Just my $0.02.

i WASNT HAPPY WITH MY RESPONCE SO HIT THEM WITH THIS:

Thank you for your quick reply

However, it does not answer my questions

It is my understanding that your sports coverage for Sunday night / Monday morning was as follows:

Sky sports 1 Played Live Cricket from 12:40am
Sky sports 2 played Live Cricket from 12.00am followed by another live game of cricket at 1:55am
Sky sports 3 Played Live Cricket 10:20pm through to 6:30 am.

So why play Cricket Live on 3 Channels For Cricket Fans and neither the World Superbikes or MotoGp for the Hundreds of Viewers who pay their sky subscriptions to see Live Motorcycle racing?
I Find it hard to believe that any Cricket Fan could watch 3 channels at once!!!!

Perhaps it is time for sky to have a stand alone motor sport channel which could play Live motor sport and replays, this would give more room on the 3 remaining sports channels for live cricket.

Awaiting your response

PISSING IN THE WIND IM SURE!!

FRAK!!!!
I just got to the end of watching the WSBK I recorded on Monday morning on MySky, and Sky screwed up royally!!!

They played SBK Race 1, and then SuperSport, and chopped it right before the start of SBK Race 2.

Im seriously pissed now!!!
A thousand fleas infesting their assholes is too good for them!!

Thats the problem with MySky, its EPG based, which means if they mess up their EPG, or change the channel (as they have done with F1 in the past) that its on, then then the recording is messed.

I do remember now thinking at the time I set it up to record that it wasnt likely to have SBK1/2 & SS. Mind you, I was expecting them to drop SS.

:(

On a better note, at least they are playing most of the F1 practise sessions this year, as well as the qualifying (which I think they started playing last year).

Did you set mysky to take race 2? They were two seperate programs, like every other time wsbk is on. When it is live they always have race 1 and supersport followed by a break and then race 2 in a different program. I have series linked both and it automatically recorded both shows :)

Yup, thats how they normally do it, and because of that, I did look for a 2nd 'episode' when I set it up to record. But I didnt see any others, so I was thinking that they were just going to play the 2 main races due to lack of time (due to live cricket!!)

However, thinking back now, Im not sure if I checked the other sport channels, just the one that it was on (Sport3 IIRC).
