Cool stand. I need one for my bike too. Why was the spring so expensive?

Awesome, I hope he does well.

Not sure where a good place would be to mount a sidestand on my bike. Looking at where they put the stand on a KDX and assuming Kawa thinks that was the best spot I wouldn't want to go drilling holes in my swingarm.
I am forever having to turn the gas off and drop the bike so I can help the kids out when they get stuck. It's getting bl@@dy annoying. Be nice to be able to prop it up on a stand anytime.

Hey this KX250 looks cheap.

They were cheaper than Mitre10 by around 20%, so I'd say you did ok in pricing.

Interesting idea making your own stand !!.

Oh adn I found a spring place up here a few years ago. really cheap. It was in Onehunga.

Yep was gonna make a bolt around the swingarm side stand, but the swingarm has so much up and down movement in it i always wonder how the stand stays up

Any way i made my one out of 3 galv square washers ,some scrape steel rod, and nuts and bolts .. oh yeah and the bunnings spring ..which now sounds ok compared to mitre10 prices

seems a bit steep $17 for a light duty extension spring what about one of those ones off an old bed or an extendable office lamp whens the next inorganic

Only if you want me to knock you up a new armour plated codpiece with sidestand attachment :msn-wink:
a close up shot of the lower sub frame area and chain roller might do it

that might restrict movement a bit too much.

You racing the 426? I will look out for ya. How olds ya mate? I got into the vets last month, im 34 but they let me in as long as i didn't want any points. But hey don't put your mate in the vets thinking they are all slow old buggers, they so aint..
Better to put him in the correct intermediate class for his bike, he'll be sweet.
It's pretty cool there eh, good cruisy atmosphere great for a first race.
See ya there, i'm racing int 250 and vets, CRF 272 and a black hilux in the pits. Hope it's not a rain off.

A very fine job indeed! That should increase the value of your bike too! I must add that your bike looks very clean*!!
I haven't had a chance to take pix yet, kept busy with my sons afterschool BBall but should have it to you this week. Because most of my riding is done at the Sandpit can you add a jandal at the base please. I'd say 'thong' but you'd supply something else!

Thong...grubby...anal...shit...where is this leading to!
Try a different grade of paint or sandblast it back to metal and galvo dip it!
But yeah you're right I won't say it!!!!

Thanks mate,so far ive made the sidestand, a chain guard you can see it in the 4thpic just infront of the front sprocket,, and a radiator overflow system for my bike,Next on the list is probably to modify the engine breather tube so it wont draw up any water

Nice job! This thread has reminded/inspired me to stick a kickstand on my bike. I have one from a chinese pit bike that came with when I bought it. I've figured out a way to make a bracket thing, Dad's volunteered to do the grunt work for me ;) I was just wondering if my swingarm would be steel or aluminium for welding purposes? I have no idea.

laserracer
21st May 2009, 23:21
Swing arm is alloy, how about a clamp on one like these, just make up a clamp fit it to your sidestand then clamp it to your swingarm
if you need any more info only to happy to help
cheers Dave

I have a kawa fitted stand on the side of my swingarm on the kdx and I hate it! It works better as an anchor in ruts than anything else - Im looking to move it near the peg brackets somewhere.
Nice job there laser. Hows the health these days-all good now m8?
