Theres going to be a bit of house to house fighting in a couple of weekends time at a group of abandoned buildings in lower hutt.
Its organised by a couple of RAM and airsoft groups (yes police are notified and know whats happening) who are looking for new members who enjoy the likes of paintball (but alot cheaper). Basically they will lend you with a group members rifle, and some gear and you can have a go for free.
I have played a few times and its alot of fun, the rifles are electric and fire semi auto at between 300 and 450 feet per second. Not enough to break skin (much) but you know when your hit. Pistols run on green gas or CO2.
Due to it being house to house stuff (or CQB close quarter battle) you dont need to be wearing camo or anything. Personally I find long pants, hiking boots, Tshirt, sweater and gloves and a cap work well enough but others like to get kitted up heavily. There can be alot of running around so it pays to not dress like ned kelly.
Its really good immature warish fun. PM me if your interested or have any questions
Vids a bit ghey but after about 1.5 mins it gives some impression of what happens.

Is this with Troy? I don't spose its the event planned for the 20th? I know thats more than a couple of weeks away but I thought that might be the one.
Location is awesome, good when you get the Landy out and do it Mounted Rifles style.

They arent that stupid, we didnt wear helmets and used gamo and bsa air rifles when I was a kid. explains alot really. 2 pairs of jeans and only leg and ass shots allowed. It hurt in the same subtle way that turbo hayabusas accelerate.

Germany Seeks To Ban Paintball
May 17, 2009: German politicians recently tried to outlaw paintball, a sport employing guns that use compressed air to fire 17mm paint balls at other players in contests simulating firefights. Paintball have been around since the 1970s, and there are 500,000 active participants in Germany. Paintball is very popular with American and German military personnel, and the drive to outlaw paintball threatened to cause a diplomatic crises between Germany and the U.S. American troops use paintball for training, as well as entertainment. But that's why many German politicians wanted to outlaw the sport, calling it "immoral" and a "disgrace." The immediate cause of all this outrage was a recent incident where a German teenager stole a gun and killed fifteen people at a school. Politicians also want to ban laser tag. Both the German and U.S. armies uses a version of this as a primary training tool.
Using "guns" that were first developed to enable foresters to mark trees, or cowboys to mark cattle, paintball has developed into a worldwide sport for some 20 million participants. The commercial paintball guns fire their solid gel balls at about 300 feet per second. Injuries from playing paintball are less than any other contact sport, and lower than most non-contact sports that require a lot of running or jumping.
The uproar from German paintball and laser tag enthusiasts (and 300 businesses involved in the two sports), plus the fact that the teenage killer had no connection with either activity, and military (German and American) protests that a ban would interfere with vital training, caused the German parliament to pull back (but not drop) legislation for the proposed ban. There have been attempts elsewhere in the world, to ban paintball. But these efforts are caused by the misuse of paintball guns outside supervised gaming areas. Some paintball enthusiasts will fire their paintballs at people or objects, causing property damage and injuries. In the United States, these paintball gun injuries (mostly outside the organized use in games) has gone from under a thousand a year in the 1990s, to over 3,000 a year now. This has led to paintball being banned locally, usually making it illegal to fire a paintball gun outside a designated, and supervised, playing area. Germany currently has over 200 of these areas, and several dozen are on military bases.

As luck would have it there is a squirm at the same venue this sunday, meet up time for the ra ra ra is 10am. Im not going to be there due to my 2 week baby who requires some attention at this stage.
There might be a $10 sign on (we have to pay to use venue) but otherwise should be the cheapest shoot out you will go to this side of living in napier.
Clear or light tint saftey/sunglasses or paintball mask will be needed (normally some spares around). dark sunglasses dont work so well in darker rooms!
I have talked to my mate (who is also a tim) and he will make sure your looked after. Site is pretty secure. If you cant find Tim look for Gareth or Chris. Just ask for the RUB guys or ghost.
Text him sunday morning around nine to check its still on just in case.
If you think you can make it pm me and I will give up to 5 of you Tims cell number and the venue. If Im feeling really generous I will even shout some ammo just for kiwibiker guys to use.
