Keep checking TradeMe - there was an XS650 last week that tempted me,had a rebuild motor - costs mega to do the bottom end,but then again the bottom end lasts forever.

Yeah I saw that one,I,m watching an 84 now but I would really prefer an 18 inch rear wheel, plus the styling of the later ones don,t do much for me.All the info, I have on biulding a cafe, is also based on the early models. What fits ect, ect.
Thanks anyway.Hey heres an idea, sell me yours. :D

One of the best things about these great bikes (apart from the engine) is that you can play around in the Yamaha parts bin - bits from here, bits from there.70s and 80s Yamahahahas used the same sizes and stuff, you would be amazed at what can bolt on.My brother (in Canada) just finished his street tracker, made out of a dog Special - he used an XS 400 rear wheel or something to get an 18.

www.xs650garage is the place to go.Just do a google on that.

A mate of mine has a 1973 model 650 Yammy which he's had since new. He did say not long ago that he might be selling it. I'll find out and get back to you.

Read somewhere a while back: "It has often been said that the only things capable of surviving a nuclear war are cockroaches and Keith Richards. Well, you can add Yamaha's XS650 to the list"

I got that kz650 Jackrat. Rode it back from Taupo in the glorious sunshine yesterday.

I think she's a keeper. After coming from my zxr250 I now 'get' older bikes. Cant see myself getting a ticket on her, and she just feels and sounds so damn good. I must look like an old codger on her too as I got waved straight through a police checkpoint. (I'm only on Restricted licence)

Jackrat

Good on ya Duba.I was wondering how it was going.
Don,t know about that old codger remark but,,,,,
Can,t think of anything smart to say,but I,ll get back to ya.
Cheers dude.
