View Full Version : SBK09 PC - multiplayer racing

Who else has this game on PC?

A few of us have been dueling it out online via multiplayer, but other talent is pretty thin on the ground and we seem to be beating people by 2-3 laps even over a 5 lap race!!!

If you have the game and are keen to race, go to www.gamespy.com and setup an account.

We could possibly do a weekly race night, or just arrange something via here :niceone:

You'll know me if you see me in game :bleh:

Well throw the torrent my way then - I've broken 100GB this month as well, so might as well go for the 200GB download. ;)

I'll probably shoot myself or this later, but if you dont have a gamepad, you can still race pretty good on keyboard. Try this setup and see if it helps:

Steering
Rake: min
trail: max

Suspension
Put everything 80-90% across to the right

Chain Tension
Min

Gearing and tyres to suit :-)

My advice is learn to powerslide - in simulation mode :niceone:

IF it doesnt work online with pirated copies try Hamachi (google it) basically sets up a virtual lan so then you can play as LAN game in the multiplayer instead of protected online mode.

I friend of mine is running a pirate copy no probs atm. But of course, it's better to go out and buy it!

I thought this would be another crap arcade motorcycle game but i have been informed that its one mighty fine simulator. I doubt it would run on my PC though :(

It doesnt even get released here for another month.

I don't know about simulator. Online play is fun in 'advanced' mode, without a decent analogue controller the 'simulator' and extreme modes are bit much and generally result in swearing and ranting. It does a fairly decent job of representing what it's like to ride a bike, I like it much more than Tourist Trophy.

I just grabbed a ps3 controller and tested out sbk2001 with it and it is much better than with any other controller. Just need to upgrade the pc to be able to play all these shiny new games :(

Looks like a few people have got it sorted now. Go to www.gamespy.com, I already had an account from other games, but if you sign up on the website then add your account name and password in the 'network' tab on the game launch screen (before the game starts) it should work all good when you go to multiplayer.

I'm R6_Kid on the Multiplayer boards. Also when looking for games, go to 'custom match' rather than quick match - custom match will list all available games where as quick match just puts you in any game that's running.

Downloaded the game but unfortunately my 3 year old laptop hasn't got anywhere near the specs required to run this game.
So I downloaded EA Superbike 2001, this requires much less hardware and might be a good option for other folks like me and still can be played over LAN so I assume you could play this over the internet.

Allright i have SBK09 lets do some racing online.

Also where is the patch? im only seeing a patch for SBK08.

R6_kid
17th June 2009, 23:10
Heh, didn't realise the patch was for SBK08... that'll explain why it wouldn't update my version of the game!

I'm on exams atm, but will get back into it after the 27th. I know that there are atleast 10 other KB'ers with the game now so we'll be able to get a full grid!

I should be able to get the game tonight. Could try out some online during the week. I don't have a controller yet, so hopefully using a keyboard will be bearable.

Bit of a bump. Just got this game and it won't fkn run! Not happy. Click on play in the launcher and it blackscreens before crashing back to desktop. Can't find any forums that have any info about the game either.

R6_kid
29th March 2010, 16:45
you got a legit copy?

sil3nt
29th March 2010, 17:00
Yep just got from MightyApe. My specs should easily be able to handle the game:

AMD Phenom II X2 550 BE
2GB DDR3 RAM
ATI HD5750 1GB

R6_kid
29th March 2010, 17:23
Should be able to kill it with those specs.

Checkup on google for a patch... I've since uninstalled the game and it's been that long that I can't remember if there was a patch out for it or not. Might pay to also double check if you're running DX9/10 etc

No patches. Will update graphics and sound drivers when my net gets uncapped.

sil3nt
2nd April 2010, 10:08
Updated drivers have changed nothing. Absolutely no forums dedicated to this game which is annoying.

R6_kid
2nd April 2010, 11:39
Weird. I can't really help - it installed fine for me. Maybe run in it compatibility mode?

sil3nt
2nd April 2010, 12:09
Doesn't help. I will try and install on sidewinders laptop if he lets me. Shoulda just got the ps3 version!

Really there should be a dedicated executable for the game and it should create logs for these sort of situations!

I got my copy from Rapidshare, had it for a while now, never bothered playing the game, havn't used my gamespy ID since early days of CS, the game logged in, so seems to be working.

So whens our first race, or was this so last year.

sil3nt
26th April 2010, 19:51
Problem solved!!! Got CoD World at War of sidewinder and that didn't work either. Searching around with the error message came up with soundcard issues. Turns out the modem line playback that appears is the problem and just needed to delete that. Fixed CoD and SBK09!
