  1. 2010 Creation of BACKYARD BUCKETS RACING TEAM

    Paul came around today and showed a keen interest, perseverance and enthusiasm. He finished the day with test riding Ikasu. After he started to get his head around riding a 2-stroke he started to do some 1/2 decent starts. Be interesting to watch him

    After fitting most of the required sliders I took my newly named bucket, "Zensen" (Japanese for fight the good fight) out for a spin and starting toying with the idea of starting in second. Seems to make the take off faster. I belong ...

  2. And the grind goes on...

    There is quite a bit of damage to the fairing and seat cowling so it looks like it's going to be a long long week of prep.

  3. What will be the reaction...

    It's been a good year to date for me \. Won my grade on a bucket that won this years worst engineered bucket. Followed by finishing the 2 hour after three crashes, a bent but not a broken bike and a very bruised body. And now onto the final meet for the year the TRRS with hopefully a couple of bikes that will give me some competitive fun. One of them I'm sure will lift a eyebrow or two

  4. Last round for 2009

    This is first for me. Leading the points with a bike that can go very fast given the chance. The weather aint looking the flashiest though with scattered showers on the horizon. It'll be interesting to see if I can repeat the last round where I finished 2nd then 1st in the points races.

    Leading the second race was a total rush; Able to do a little pay back to the youngster by making him brake early, able to take lines, not having to brake early to avoid hitting another and then looking ...
  5. What a rush

    Yesterday I had the best day riding at Kaitoke, running a second and first in the points races.

    I ran a rear slick for the first time, which what I needed to step it up. My gear changer is knackered and I could have run the rear tyre with little more pressure or it's not going to last. I am now really looking forward to seeing what the new engine's performance will be like.

    It was also great to see Wanisami (my RG50 bucket) out again. I'm about to swap out it's engine ...
  6. Another one starts to breath again.

    Well friends,
    I have another 1985 GSXR400 coming back to life;
    The engine's mounted and running, fairings on, accessories work and a couple more things and she can be ridden. She looks like she was raced at some point due to some modifications;

    Running a 17 inch instead of an 18 inch rear wheel.

    The exhaust is from god knows what with balancing pipes between each of the header pipes and a different muffler.

    The air intake has been changed ...

  8. Finally...

    Ikasu is running fantastically. Last week I replaced the fork seals and cleaned up the master cylinder. Thank god I did as it's what saved me from certain disaster and great placings during the carnage last Sunday:

    First fun race; I finished first from getting a great start, where I was able to shoot ahead of everyone else. #808 did pass me on the last lap but I was able to brake later than him on the last corner. I nearly ended up trying to merge with the back of another bike though! ...
