  1. time to get serious

We'll Ikasu runs but with a couple of tiny issues; i.e., the chain is getting destroyed due to catching on something. So she's off to see guru on building bikes.

The GSXR400 IS NOW ROAD LEGAL much to my delight. It has been a great learning curve and confidence builder for me building her. Ironically, I'm now debating selling her as we are looking to buy a house and it would be a easy couple of grand to raise, but am attached to her with amount of ...
  2. and she lives

Got IKasu off the stand and mobile and she's abit wild at the moment. The engine isn't quite lined up with back wheel so he (new) chain is taking abit of a beating at the moment. Hopefully all I'll need to do is move a whole lot of washes around to fix the problem. It was nice to have her out and mobile though.
  3. Ops

My word its been a while since I've posted an entry.

Just after Christmas I raced at Taupo (on Wanisami), which while being a blast (even though I totally blew the start really showed that I need a F4 semi-competitive bucket to be satisfied so i can race in decent entered race.

Hence the birth of "IKASU" (Japanese slang for "out of date but cool"); I'm taking a Yamaha RX125 engine and putting it into a Suzuki RG50 rolling frame. So far it has cost me 275 for the Yamaha, ...
  4. the budding of the next generation

I took my daughters on the front and back of my bucket last weekend, much to their delight and horror. The older one just about shat her pants to start off the first time she let out the clutch (well with me really operating it) but once she realised she wasn't going to die at 5kph she started to get into it. My younger one is really starting to get into the mind set of a speed demon. For her birthday I got her a pocket trail bike and once it had a set of training wheels she was off. Even got into ...
  5. my god what a difference

Fitted a new carb a couple of days ago and my god what a huge difference. i finally got around to finishing a flange I had made so I could fit an AG100 carb onto a 2 seater Rg50 a finally woke up to the fact that this would be a much better thing for racing. i mean talk about a real 'Doh' moment of a Young Einstein. Any way fitted it and now the bike is starting to turn into a little rocket I hope Wanizame would be. Now to find a late model CR125 frame or something similar.
  6. Let it ride

8 days ago I took the bike out for a days racing and it actually ran the whole time. So Wanizame is running, dressed but needs a lot of work still. I finally have the flange for fitting a modified AG100 carb and am toying with the idea of changing the exhaust.

  7. Oh GOD what have I created

Just finishing up my first attempt at fibre glassing (talk about messy). While It's an ugly attempt, it'll work. Just another couple of days I hope It'll be sorting out mounting it and starting to get some sort of paint job.
  8. We have a seat

This actually turned into a really fun activity; I basically took the seat and lengthened it by 10 - 15 cm, covered it with some pieces of highish density foam and covered it with some vinyl I had spare from covering a seat. While searching for the foam I found a couple of plastic exit signs that I turned into a rear cowling of sorts.

So now at least the back half is starting to look half decent.

I have also started experimenting with carb's ...
