Great writeup. I'm having fun comparing your progress to my own for day 1 - I also spent the night in Oamaru, but didn't get there until 12:15am. I had done a couple of the shorter flyers on day 1, but you are definitely quicker on the GN than I was with a lot more ccs.

Even travelling with one other person, you end up riding at the slower person's pace, then stopping at the slower person's pace, so yes... it can take quite a while. Good to see you blogging!!
