  1. Finally some good news!

had my latest appointment with the specialist this afternoon and he's very happy with the way the collarbone is looking - 4 and a bit months on after the surgery. He said to see how things go for now, and perhaps by September get back in touch with him if necessary; but he'll leave it with me now.

  2. 7 weeks on...

Had appointment with the specialist yesterday and he's very happy with the progress. I have more movement in my arm than it took to get 9 months after the accident. Hasn't affected my riding at all, in fact I took the bike in for my appointment.
The scar is looking pretty neat and tidy too. Had a wee lumpy thingy at one end of it where the stitches were removed but that's gone away now (kinda looked like a gross pimple!) and the bio-oil has been doing wonders as well.

  3. Photos....

Have posted a couple of photos in the "Broken bones - waiting is the hardest part" thread in General Bike Ravings. Received, today, the xray taken immediately after my op showing the plate in place and will try to upload it to the same post.

  4. 2 days on....

Well, second night at home and I'm amazed I was able to sleep on my left side already for part of the night.

While I realise that there is a world of difference between my injury count after the accident (back in March) including bruised rib cage, pulled muscles, etc. I hadn't expected to feel so good so quickly after the surgery.

My shoulders are now back in alignment, and the sling I've been given to use is brilliant - one of those fancy thick felt type ones with ...

  5. home sweet home

Successful op yesterday. Typing with one hand so wont write too much.
Surgeon was able to manipulate bone ends pretty much inline for 6-screw plate to be put in. He was pleased he didnt have to do a bone chip graft as he had wondered about.

In less than 30 hours I was home again, just on panadol (and tramadol if pain levels get too high for the panadol). Have been told not to us anti inflammatories such as voltaren as it has an ingredient detrimental to bone repair.

  6. Injury update

Well, last appt. with the specialist today. Bone still confirmed as non-union so surgery going ahead on Wed. 9th.

A little apprehensive about it, but must keep the long term objective in mind! I'll be getting another steroid injection at the same time so I'm glad i'll be dosed up on pain killers already.

Next entry will be after the op......think kind thoughts for me please!!!

  7. Injury update

Well some of you will know I offed back in the middle of March this year. Bad call aborting an overtake only to have a sea of red brake lights in front of me when I looked back from my over-shoulder check.

My husband had just flown up to the States the day before and I had to phone him from the side of the motorway saying "well, you might like to sit down; I'm ok and the bike is still ridable..." (well, it was in a sense).

Little did I know at the time I'd broken ...
