Handy thing these blogs, put a post on each ride so you can look back a few years later... lets see how this blogs thing works out. Some adventures masquerading as servicing aka working on bikes may also occur between rides.
Woke up about 8am, but took a while to rise. Into the shower, using it to clean some garments. First shave in probably 4-5 days, and felt much better (still need more sleep though). Time adjustment seems to be going very well. Down to Mariposas again, and hating egg didn’t leave me a lot of options. Ignoring Steak, French toast and nothing was left. Hmmm. I don’t like having a heavy breakfast. Luckily I noticed the milk and cold cereal in the bottom corner, so hoping the ...
The day off on Friday isn’t… and I find myself leaving the office around 5pm on Friday afternoon, hadn’t packed yet, but at least I had sorted all the errands. Dinner with family after a little packing, and I continue packing. Finish packing, shower etc, and I’m crawling into bed at 1am. Alarm rings far too soon at 2.30am. Changed into flight clothes, and since I made excellent time to the airport, arrived earlier than I needed. Flight departed just after 6am, but I was checked in ...
Twice in one month? Where is this going? GiJoe had offered cake from his lovely lady who has been on a cake baking course during the week. Despite my sweet tooth, I decided later, as I was tired from work. Friday afternoon it was offered again, and I asked if it came with a side of checking why my hot grips weren’t working. I don’t think he was too surprised. Saturday morning, over to his place again (with ginger beer of course, his supply was dwindling) ...
Typical… depths of winter, my beloved BMW in a crate probably half way around the world and being paid to ride around the country. Terrible isn’t it? Another trip to Wellington was called for, to change a couple of modem configs, the only downside being a weekend trip and work both sides during the week, but who cares? Any ride is a good ride in my book. Of course, the only annoyance was that the bike equipped for it, with heated grips, GPS, plenty of luggage, etc., ...
An unusual situation I would agree, but for a while I had been thinking off making the rear of the hornet more visible. I commute a lot, up and down the motorway, around town etc., and figured the more presence the rear of the bike had, the more chance I had at not being rear ended. Givi makes a rear stop lamp kit that directly goes into the Givi E55 top box, which is what I have on the Hornet. Rather expensive, but more visibility. In the meantime, I added some reflective tape, which ...
You're going to have to see the attached pictures to figure out how that magic in the title happened Last weekend was crating time. After some rather frantic work to get the bike ready (see previous blog), with tyres, service and electrical issues, I knocked off work on Friday a little earlier around 7pm. The evening was consumed with planning what gear I would be taking to the USA, and therefore, what needed to travel with the bike now, and what I would take in July, via plane. ...
After posting some posts on KB about my wiring issue with the Zumo 550, Saturday morning rolls around. I head over to a mate, who likes wiring, and since I shouldn’t be left alone with a multimeter (and I now own one) I figure that he would be of some very useful assistance. He shows me that there is far more to a multimeter than just measuring volts. It can even do circuit testing and other stuff (that can come when I need to know). This means I can hook into the wiring wherever, ...
Ok... so not without some considerable help from the mechanics. As blogged before, a uh, miscalculation in trajectory saw the BMW tumbling into a field. Rode her back, and the last two months have been spent sorting insurance claim, waiting for parts, then she got booked into the shop etc, and now she is finally being put back together with some shiny parts. While all that got going, I've been developing a healthy twitch in one eye, from the lack of riding her. This ...
