gijoe1313's Blogs

A delve into the twisted pysche that makes up the avatar bearing the Hornet.

  1. The holiday blog ... or to wit : Where did gijoe1313 go today?

Well as I find myself unwinding from the stresses of another teaching year, I noticed my milage has alarmingly decreased from what I am wont to do! Now, this just won't do gentle reader. No, it just won't do at all.

I shall put this to rights by making my usual (dis)concerted efforts into exploring the high ways, the by ways, the low ways and any ways of our fair lands. Suffice to say, I shall ride as much as I can frikk'n do!

So, I shall catalogue, reference, mark, ...
  2. Video logging or pictorial scribings upon one's random meanderings

Well the other day I finally got convinced by zeocen to try and implement this infernal contraption called a POV 1.5 camera video. After much tooing and froing to acquire small velcro dots to affix aforementioned device to one's external cranium protector, I managed to evince a passable attempt to mount it and tootled melodiously on my way.

I rode over hill and dale, over the hills and far away, around some bends, wafted around some corners and pootled with gusto on the other bits. ...

  3. A wee ride to some parts of my backyard I haven't got around to yet!

Well up at the crack of sparrow's fart and due to the late natter I had with the redoubtable gremlin (1.30am :slap

I was meant to be up at 6am, but got out around 8am ... rode around the back blocks of Papakura to get to some roads I haven't been down ... basically any road I hadn't yet managed to go down I followed!

Usual goat tracks with gravel galore on apex lines, but usual NZ stuff. Got somehow from the Hunuas to the back of SH22 and decided to take a look around ...
  4. At the 50 000km mark for Big Ol'Hornet

Its at this point in time, I am pausing to effect a small reflection of my zeal for two wheels of freedom. The CB919 aka 900 Hornet aka Big ol'Hornet has helped layer another patina of rose coloured experiences to my life.

I well remember the anticipation and petulant way I acted at Botany Honda, demanding from Richard that my bike shall be ready and on road for the next day!

Ah the halcyon day when I rode it down to Wellington and back for its maiden journey, a small ...
  5. Cape Reinga and back

Well, I cannot believe that there were two other crazy arse double 'ard, road warriors at that time of night with me! I mean, I do this as par for the course and being lost in the lonesome middle of no-where with low fuel light staring me in the visor is a normal situation.

But here, this day, two of my good mates became my riding brothers par excellence. They endured outrageous milages, comical conumdrums, ironic instances and mayhem in equal measure.

    A typical ride ...
  6. The posting of the first!

The musings and happenstances of a wayward motorcycling enthusiast in his short time as a new convert to this most elegant and charming of past-times. A rudimentary embellishment of experiences and post-reflection of occurences, encounters and other correspondence.

The story starts with a glint in my father's eye ... the other being temporarily weeping since a gnat had strayed into it requiring tear ducts to stream. In this state, the watery residue magnified the alluring qualities ...
