  1. Bikers Galore

I had my first weekend rides in nearly a month, and obviously the weather has been keeping most of the other bikers off the roads too, because today there were bikers galore.

Yesterday I decided to attend the funeral of Paul Kenny, in Masterton. I went to school with him and he was Harley rider who came to grief whilst returning from from the Cold Duck Rally. It was a very big turnout to send him off and quite a nice touch when the 20+ Harley Riders provided a Side-Carriage Hearse ...

  2. A Relaxing Weekend in Tokaanu

After getting the front tyre checked this week, it turned out that it was slightly damaged but as I don't have any marathon rides planned, we just fitted a tube and will contine to monitor it.

We had the Ambulance Charity ride on ANZAC day this week. There was about 50 bikes turned up and we rode from Maidstone Park, over Haywards to Plimmerton, then down SH1 to Murphy Street and the Ambulance depot on the corner of Hobson St and Thorndon Quay.

I rode as TEC and arrived ...

  3. Time to Put the Liners In

We had a busy week trying to sort out some year-end accounts, working all Saturday on them, and today I was planning to go to work to do some catching-up there but instead, we decided to go over to the Wairarapa to pick-up a new car for the business.

I had to go to work first to sort out a couple of things and Nanny Ann was to meet me there so I got ready and departed. I struggled getting the bike out of the garage and was heading down the drive before I realised something was wrong ...

  4. Rotorua and Back

I've hardly been on the bike over the last three weeks, since the Mini's Return. I guess it was such a good ride, everything else seems to pale in insignificance, but I suppose I'm getting over it because this week I rode to Rotorua and back as I had an AGM/conference to attend and it was an opportunity to include a ride as well as visit the kids and Moko'.

I was scheduled to get away from work around lunchtime on Wednesday and it wasn't looking too pleasant when a front came through ...

  5. The Mini’s Return...9 Days of Biker Bliss!

When this run was advertised in Feb/March 07, I, like many, thought it would be a good way to kill a few K’s, however, I did nothing at the time and although my intentions to participate fluctuated, my interest in the event never faltered and I keenly kept an eye on any info about it…..That is until Malcolm (Jantar), posted on KiwiBiker that he needed to sell his entry due to health problems. Well, being a ‘Good Samaritan’ and all, I now had all the justification I needed and promptly set about ...

  6. Blog for Blog's Sake...Riding for God's Sake

This was a mixed week. I was given a picture of my great-grandparents with my grandfather, taken when he was 3 or 4 so I would estimate it was taken around 1885 and rates highly with me as a family treasure.

On the other hand, I went to Motomart to get a spare key for the bike and after booking in, I was supposed to be there for 20-30 minutes while they programmed it.......but 3½ hours later I was spewing and left without a key. What made it worse was that I was told two different ...

  7. It's Autumn...Ride On!

After no ride for a couple of weeks, I made up for it with 2 short rides this week.

On Wednesday I joined the Kiwibikers for the Cruisy ride to the Tin Hutt, departing from Avalon at 1830. On the way there I was happy to ride as TEC so it was very cruisy but on the way back, I left with Dennis and thought I'd have a bit of 'pace' practice. However, shortly after hitting the hill, the light following me, (who I thought was Dennis), passed and turned out to be a GSXR with no Dennis ...

  8. The Big Day Out to the Art Deco Festival

I finally got an Avon Storm on the front this week. The PR2 was good for 18,000Kms by the time it got down to the indicator strips and had squared off slightly. I'm not sure how much this affected the handling but the difference between the tyres was significant. The Storm made the PR2 feel like it had been running partially deflated as the bike felt crisper and livelier but at the same time, much more stable.......in fact it felt bloody marvelous and that was good because we had a Big Day Out this ...
