- raced my buddies ol cb125 around Kaitoke and loved every minute of it, some good dudes/ladies there, good racing, at relatively low cost, where the bad side ?
- bought a GL145 motor and have figured out how it all falls together, got some bearings on order and hopefully will have the crank assembled tomorrow after work.
- secured a complete GL for $50 ! What a steal ! Something wrong with the motor but I'm sure I can figure it out, might have a complete spare motor to fiddle with.. Neato.
- bought a carb that may work, though I may have ripped myself off there..
- found manuals that are useful and will steer me in the right direction if I get stuck.

There is a round of nth island bucket champs in march, I am hoping to have my bike operational by then. I doubt it will be competitive, but so long as it circulates and doesn't give me any grief I'll be happy.
I am going to have a nose through a box of bits that when assembled should look like a warmed up xr600. From my understanding it needs some fettling to make it serviceable, one issue it has is a missing gearbox selector, although I am not scared of manufacturing a new one to suit. Also it has been made clear to me that the gear ratios are obviously suited to dirt riding and not top end caning. This does not scare me either, as I am confident that with some careful maths and setting up, the stock gears can be modified OR a new set can be manufactured.

I am excited and optimistic that this is not an overrated piece of shit.

Wish me luck :)

After realizing that the engine was a stressed member it looks like I may need to fabricate some rails to go in between the front and rear engine mounts.
Also the front wheel bearings are FUCKED, head bearings will need replacing too, as will swing arm bushes.
Funnily enough the shock seems to work now, maybe its just a side effect of the engine not being present.

I came to the conclusion the remains aren't worth much at all so will employ my engineering talents and turn it into a track scoot, WITH A XR650 ENGINE TRANSPLANT WOO DE DOO !!!

It will be a while until I can afford a new motor so in the mean time I'll pretty much be pulling the chassis, brakes and suspension apart to give it all a tidy up, machine some new swing arm bushes, chop the tail down, etc etc.

I've already had pessimistic douche bags tell me that I'm a dick, also that it's a dumb idea and can't be done. Well fuck ya's. Im gonna do it anyway.

If anyone out there has some advice they can give me that would be sweet, also if someone has a running xr motor they don't want I'd be happy to take it off your hands (I have to try).

Chur

Progress to date - engine, radiator, complete loom, lights, tail underseat unit has been removed. Will move onto switch gear next, then chassis/suspension dismantle.

Like my plans to buy a vfr, when is that going to happen.. I'm fuckin broke !

I've got a project bike in pieces that needs a new motor, which isn't going to be too costly (well I hope) as I can do nearly all the work myself, I'm still servicing a fuckin bank loan, then there is a hefty tool account to pay off (quality tools are hellishly expensive), a tax bill, probably several hundred illegitimate babies with mohawks and led zeppelin t-shirts that will need child support.

Fuck by the time I've got myself back in the black I'll be digging my own grave and hollowing out a felled tree for a cheap DIY coffin.

My olds go on about how I've learned a big lesson about money and responsibility, well fuck that, I wish I hadn't learned by not doing something so fuckin stupid in the first place.

The only reason I got the stupid ass hole cunt loan was because I talked so much shit and convinced myself I was capable of buying a new bike and that I would have a steady job to pay it off all in good time...

Naaaaaaaaa, hahaha and the reason I lost that good steady stable job is cause I was drinking too much booze and talking shit and arguing with superiors when I should have been in my room studying for exams.

All signs point to not talking so much shit, so why do I keep doing it ?

I blame the sea.

My eight year streak has come to an end. I thought I could hold out until I was 25 but alas, the pressure from my superiors has grown such I can no longer handle the strain. And I have crumbled. Faltered. Given in to the external forces that have been crushing me from all sides.

Today, I sat my restricted car license exam, I passed with flying colors. Even doing the test in a truck with suspension hard enough to make the little Asian assessor remark "ahh vewy bumpy wide".

It's kind of a shallow victory, I mean I don't even have my restricted bike ticket yet.. I could have about 7 years ago but hey hey procrastination is a cruel mistress. At least I didn't have to pay for it.. It's good for my career too, it now means I'll be sent out on-site alone rather than having to work with a team or need transport too and from jobs. Higher pay grade here we come..

But at the same time it was kind of cool being the guy who doesn't drive automobiles unless he has too, why ? Because I ride (or did ride) a motorbike everywhere and everyone knew me for it.

Oh well, a silly petty thing to be annoyed about I guess, stuff doesn't normally bother me like this, I'll probably forget about it when the extra coin buys me a sweet vfr.

Then I'll be back to my bad self..

Watch your back world..

Its domination pushed into living hell
Domination a now blacked heart
Is reaching out divinity
Body suspended by chains over razors
And nails its a penalty
Each razor a vice and each nail
Marks the demise of you life.
Grim construction grows
Has life played a trick
Sealed you in brick by brick
Till your end forcing you to bend

The above lines are from Pantera's classic song domination, they are not at all applicable to the story, I just think it's awesome aha.

...

Chris and me had yarned about it for a bit at work, the both of us being pretty keen on motorcycles, of course we are going to chew the fat.

He has a 500cc Norton Dominator that he has owned since he was 17, and over the last 6 years has been developing the motor and chassis to the point where now it is on its 3rd frame and runs on methanol.

It has been raced with great success in the post classic racing scene and now is without a full time rider.. So the idea came about that I take it for a hoon, just to dip my toes in the water so to speak. Fuckin loved it. I've said it before and I'll say it again, bikes are fuckin cool.

Went out with Chris and Michelle to manfield, to the Mother's MC run race day. Had a few stints in the classic class and also participated in the Le Mans style race (only to be lapped by Pete Tanner on the rear wheel, his wheelie lasted most of the Hulme straight.. bastid).
I got my ass handed to me by just about everyone there, but it was an eye opener. And just like a crack junky, once is not enough.

I'm hooked.

The feeling you get from holding the throttle wide open as you are leaned over as far as you think physics will allow is unlike anything else, a little bit nervous, but at the same time your brain is screaming "give it more you pansy!!!", your body is pumped with adrenaline to the point where the only sensation you feel is the urge for more ! faster ! longer ! harder !

Being a n00b most of the time coming away from a turn and down the straight I would be thinking "man there is so much room for improvement there" but all is forgotten as your brain overloads trying to decipher the manner in which you can outwit the enemy (the track), the recurring theme for the day was BRAKE LATER, TURN LATER.

For all the critiquing and ribbing I got from my dismal field standings, the crew were pretty impressed that I got on a strange bike and fanged it to the limits of my ability, and that with more time on the track my skills will catch up to the standard my mouth has advertised..

I'm seriously considering trying to find secondary employment, to get myself something I can punt around on the track. If that's what it will take, then that's what will be done.

Watch this space.

Well the second vodafone Homegrown festival went down an absolute treat, as I'd hoped for.

It was good hanging out with some friends from out of town, the weather turned out ok and the booze wasn't badly priced. :)
There were babes everywhere, one of whom not so discretely inquired about a public showing of my genitalia, embarrassingly though having just retrieved myself from the cold wellington sea water, it was hardly in an appropriate state for critiquing by the general population.. Ahem..

Just to clarify I didn't fall off the wharf.. I got into my jocks and did it by choice because of much pressure from a friend who had done it at last years event..

Special Jimmy and some poofter c4 TV presenter were mc'ing the 'Moro 4th hottest' contest, out of the 10 woman on stage I thought number eight was the clear winner, as she was the only one who had sex appeal with out having to paint it on with Homer Simpson's make-up shotgun set to 'whore', to my dismay some dulux-decorated wafe-thin bint took out the top spot.. A fuckin travesty in my view..

'Head like a hole' and 'weta' were awesome on stage, with both bands coming together for this festival only, they did not disappoint.
'HLAH's singer was a show on his own, with a skin-ful of tequila he fell over into some speakers and later smashed the mike into the deck while the guitarist kamikaze'd the drum kit.
The crowd loved 'wet rubber' so much that following the song I couldn't even hear myself voicing appreciation, as I took the form of a mere drop in the roaring ocean of heavy metal lovers. Seriously it was like they had never split.. AWESOME.

And then with the various silly bugger antics played in town, accompanied by the usual suspects and the ever entertaining jo, it capped off what had been a day of honest, old fashioned, good fun. Coming home with all my limbs intact and some pocket change only added cherries to the cake..

So here is a thank you to New Zealand music, the event promoters and the other fans who made it happen.

CHUR !

I'll be back next year for sure !!

Tonight at ju jitsu, I got a semi.

Not a full on anticipating penetration kind of erection, just a semi, the kind you get when you think what you might like to do to that fit girl walking across the street from you, or when you hear a barely silenced Desmo L-twin roll past..

It wasn't just because I was wrestling with a fit young woman either, well partly.. The best bit about it was because she was actually pretty aggressive, you know, she didn't expect that just because a guy was on top that she was going to get owned, anyway I thought that this was a change from the norm and as such was pretty fuckin cool..

And this got me to thinking about how you can use some of the maneuvers in sexual scenarios..
Which of course gave me a semi...

Of course..

Now it's got me thinking I may have to investigate this avenue further, because I haven't had sex like that in a while, you know the breathless, sweaty, heart rate at 150bpm kind where afterward you end up contemplating physics and magic and religion because there is no way in hell that something earthly and natural can feel so. Fuckin. AMAZING.

Like :shit: maybe there is a god.

Lol if all the other fighters tonight knew what I was thinking, I would have got a proper beat down, ahh well, the wheels in motion, can't stop it now..

Any day now I should get a signed telegram from the queen... (tui)

You know what, this no motorcycle business really is a drag, I still find myself waking up Saturday mornings excited that its sunny and I'm not hung over, a hop and a skip outside to warm up the Spartan reveals "ohhh gay", still doesn't run huh..

Nuts.

On a slightly more positive note I've reached the conclusion that me on a big bore bike would be a bad idea, smoking hole in the ground, hundreds of virile young woman wailing and shaking their hands in the air kind of bad..

So I should stick to something smaller, but still bad ass, so another 250 (unless its a 94 prilla rs in dark purple ) is not the go, hence my mind is on the fabled VFR400, or RVF..

It's quick enough to outgas MOST street legal tin tops, that v4 engine noise with sweet open pipes fuckin rings my bells, it looks all kinds of sexy naughty with the single swing arm and exposed wheel, plus I've heard you can throw them round like a swing dancing partner without fear of a stack..

Of course my sweet machining skills will come in handy, as a new tail section and various other cosmetic niceties will have to be fabricated, and damned if I'm paying retail for some pretty shiny things that I can make better and much much cheaper than what is currently lining motorcycle emporium accessory shelves today.

That is to say, the aforementioned events will happen AFTER said motorcycle is purchased, funding needs to be procured and a viable specimen will have to be tracked down, researched and thoroughly test-ridden before any rash decisions are made, but there is no fear of this happening..

Me ? Rash ? Not on your Nelly !

I used to be a man of leisure, I'd take the motorbike to work, then I would come home and smoke a few cones with the boys, then drink up on the weekend, rinse and repeat, rinse and repeat. Easy.

It got to the stage where this wasn't as much fun as it used to be, so I joined a gym and started weight training, and enrolled in the local polytech and did an engineering pre-apprenticeship type deal, which netted me a job. Sweet.

Then work tells me I have to go to night school as part of the apprenticeship, ok cool, I'll just knock the gym session back a little, not a worry.

About a month ago, my bike decides it doesn't like life too much any more, indicates its lack of motivation by blowing a head gasket, and consequently cooking the motor, oh what a f@#%ing pain in the &$s, ok fine, push bike it is. The extra exercise will be good.. Maybe.

Then I get a puncture.. Ok I'll patch it, next day, blam, another, didn't check the tire did I, new tube, safe as fuck, a pinch of snuff and away we go..

MMA you say ? Ju-Jitsu you say, beginner course starts this week ? Awesome !!! Monday to Thursday classes.. 5 o'clock at massey you say, oh christ and fuck, I'll need alot of snuff..

So as it is, (probably pales in comparison to being a single parent, but I wouldn't know about that..) Get up earlier than I would like and take the SHOVEY to work, punch out at 4, pedal home, inhale food, pedal to massey to start fight club class at 5 (Monday - Thursday), then on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday go do some weights, can't hang around on Wednesday cause I got to be at night school.. Friday I can take my time getting to the gym but still have to pedal.

To top it all off, first night at fight school, I get another puncture..

I'm all out of swear words..

Time to sit down I think.
