I've written about my love/hate relationship with the Ducati before, but it has reached epic proportions this time.

Bike has 33,567kms on the clock.
It is due a chain and sprockets, but thats not the kicker.
It has had its starter rebuilt (yet only 32k when it was done? shit!) but I have been told that the high compression makes these motors harder on the starter to turn over.

Now I love this bike to bits, even though I have tried selling it twice, I end up taking it off trade me and carrying on....

This time I am really pissed. Last 3 weeks:

After a new tyre, the rear chain tensioner came loose. Gary McPhee helped me outta that by going home for tools and helped me straighten the now bent bolt to re-tighten it, while at the Gladdy.
Then, my front wheel started making a horrible noise on the way home while on the Paekakariki hill.
So Riffer helps me dismantle the front, and we discover it has a rooted wheel bearing....at 34k and change FFS!

But that's not all we found......
Discovered somehow the wrong diameter rotors are fitted.
There is a story to tell there alone but...never mind.
The rotors were worn only on the bottom 1/3rd of the surface...GAH!
The disk was only shoing 2/3rds of the surface shiny with fresh contact marks.

So now, I painfully await new wavy disk rotors from a chap in the Waikato, sourced from overseas. I am getting new pads from the people who replaced the rotors for ma 2 years back, but don't trust them to supply me rotors again that's for sure (as they fitted them I can feel totally justified they fucked it up, but I am still sourcing my own rotors as I had a decent source)

Sigh...as if the valve service every 10k aint bad enough............

Fuckin Ducati's.......
God I love riding em.........

Don't ya hate selling a bike you love?
I hated parting with my SS750, but it was useless two-up.
I hated parting with the 600F I traded on my GSXR but ... I had to.
Now I am selling my Super Duke, because face it, it is way surplus to requirements.
Had a lot of fun on it though! As has Kelly and the kids when I have taken any of them out on it. And the wheelies....oh the wheelies.

Got the old GSXR to fall back on, and that's all the bike a man needs.
Due some tyre's and a finish paint job, she's all welded up and ready to get WOF'd up and ready to roll again. Minor details.

So, I am also gonna hate parting with the ST4 too, but hell in that case I am way over the servicing costs. A silver lining.... or a dark cloud? (bit of both really)......

18 months I will sit on the Gixxer, take my time, and think about the next ride.
Finding the new 1050GT triumph to look appealing....maybe one will be available second hand when I start looking again for a new, late model bike.

Kelly still has Casper (her 250) and he is a perfect miniature of my 1100 with dual headlight full fairing and that will keep us happy for a while while she graduated through R and onto F class.

Meantime, goodbye to my two European beauties, it has been fun. The insane speeds the ST4 could do (seriously if you're in 6th gear your likely in disqualification country ffs!) to the pure torque of the KTM lifting your front wheel out of near every corner (or straight LOL) those two bikes have been a pleasure to own...but its time to reduce the fleet to a manageable size and face reality.

Not to mention the wedding I gotta save for............

It is so easy to give away your precious time to everyone but yourself. How many of us know this, yet ignore the signs and battle on anyway? Do we realise the cost we impose on ourselves?

We work, eat, sleep and recycle the pattern...that’s how my last 2 years have been anyway.
And now it’s my time. Time for me to be myself and not have to care what anyone thinks of my comments, or what my statements may mean, time that I can no longer care if anyone misinterprets my attempts at humour or disagrees with my opinion....sheer bliss!

The last two years I have spent totally focussed on trying to assist my fellow motorcyclists, be it in the fight against unfair ACC levy hikes, or in establishing representative groups that can assist them in dealing with Government issues affecting us as road users and New Zealand citizens.
It never fails to amaze me how much work this became, from organizing access to Parliament in November 09 to the creation of the BRONZ Federation, something like 8,000 emails flowed through my inbox!

However, that flow slowed to a dribble about 2 weeks ago.
I passed the leadership of BRONZ Wellington on to Paul Ellen as I felt it was now time to step aside and let others take the lead. As Paul is the Vice President as duly elected at the AGM, he becomes the Acting President, Wellington Branch. (Acting my ass, he is now the boss, no way I will ever take it back!)

It gets very draining, coming home from work to find another 2 to 3 hours worth of reading, commenting, and analysing to be done before you can even think of watching any TV, or playing a stupid computer game, or walking the dog, or getting out for a ride on the much neglected bikes sitting in the garage.
And some of this is still happening, with my continuing on the MSAC for the remainder of my term as well as the duty of Spokesperson/Chair for the BRONZ Federation.
But the major workload, running BRONZ Wellington, is no longer my burden to bear.

It was a great honour to lead BRONZ Wellington through its reformation over the last two years, and even more satisfying to get the Federation established and growing (it has over 1200 members counting all associate groups that have signed up).
Being placed as an appointee on the MSAC also added to the load already placed on straining shoulders, and I must admit the workload in both my professional life and my biker life did lead to a few poor judgments.

Making hasty decisions based more on emotive response than proper rationalised analysis is not something I would have thought would occur, but it did.
Analysis is my job and I take great pride in doing my job well.

Recently, BRONZ Wellington stepped up to take on the WCC over a breach of good faith in regards parking, especially report 4 and its biased and deeply prejudiced content.
This fight was the last straw for me, as I was burned by a trusted reporter publishing off the record comment for the sake of sensationalism.

End result, a lot of upset rugby fans sent me some very personal correspondences and these emails were the final straw for the camel’s back...I resigned from the BRONZ Wellington executive committee and reclaimed my life for my own use.
To say there was resistance to my resignation would be fair but it had to happen, and I made it happen. There was no changing my mind, and I refused to let anyone talk me out of the decision.

There is a huge and unseen cost paid by those of us who attempt to make a difference, and it is a cost those who merely rant on web forums will never understand. (You all know who you are...loud, opinionated, and never present to represent anyone in person.)
Ask those who tried to create MAG NZ, turning the great Kiwi Apathy Machine around is nigh on impossible.
We give and give and give..... but nothing ever comes back to us except opinions that never amount to anything productive, or just outright abuse because someone else has a slightly different view of a statistical anomaly.

While some choose to sound sagacious and knowledgeable from the safety of their computer desks, there are others like the committee members of the BRONZ branches around New Zealand who actually do the work.

As well as groups like HOG, WIMA, Ulysses, Wellington Riders.... lists go on and on.....

Peace

Ok...lets sort this out once and for all.
MSL, how I got involved, and what it is, what it means.

In light of recent events and in the interest of setting a few records straight, I decided to blog the course of history that lead me to be on the ACC MSL Safety Council.

You all know I was involved with BIKEOI, and thats effectively where my involvment began.
BRONZ Wellington opened, and grew, and started to get attention from TPTB

Foxzee called meone day, VIC were asked (Victoria Motorcycler Club) to provide bikes and models for an ACC Photo shoot, to upgrade the Ride Forever website.
Racing bikes and road safety? Dee called me and passed the gig off to BRONZ. See www.ridefroever.co.nz for the results, all models are a member of THIS website, I think even Jim from LTSA is too.

Anna Long, the Injury Prevention Manager at ACC attended this photo shoot, and she knew of my involvment with BIKEOI.
Anna asked us to provide input on the website revamp, as well as Jim from NZTA/Ulysses, and we happily assisted.
Our attitudes and actions on the day, got Anna's attention (we told the photographer we were not going to die for his photo shoot in a force 8 gale force wind and to move location or F*** off) and this impressed Anna immensly that we were so safety conscious.

So, I was personally invited to partake in the Steering Committee that set up the rules and governance of the MSL and its immediate and future use.
There were a number of others involved, which is all on public record if you search ACC's website for MSL announcements so wont name them here, suffice to say all groups ACTIVE in Motorcycle representation (mostly those who participated in BIKEOI) at the time were involved in consultation.

Meantime, the ACC minister created another group, some of which were involved in the same steering committee I was in, and others were not, it included Les Mason and some senior Ulyssians as well as MNZ to go to Australia to see what the Victoria model had done, what worked, what they decided was not working etc etc.

Please remember at this point, a new organisation had recently opened shop, and was sort of getting its feet under itself and I had a semi-official approach made to me in regards support of thier mission here in Aotearoa, which I have no problem with at all.
The more the merrirer I say!
I was asked about MSL at this time by the new organisation, and I explained at length that I had NO authority to invite in any new players, excplained to e-mail the minister direct, and also that I cannot get any organisation (even BRONZ) access to the funds.

So last September, we had our final meeting and made submissions to the Minister in regards who should be on the council.
By the end of September the MSL situation was thouroughly sorted, council nominee's were already suggested, and research already done, only the actual Ministerial Appointee's were yet to be announced.
These appointments are for 2 years, my nomonees were Dr Charles Lamb, Les Mason from BRONZ Auckland, and Big Dave from right here on KB (who is also a BRONZ member)
Les also made similar nominations to the minister in his role as a Vic Study group member, this included me.

I honestly believe I was chosen as to keep travel expenses for MSL attendance down, a logical choice. I am no smarter, or more connected than any of the other nominee's.
Most council members are in Wellington, a sensible idea, with nelson and Hawkes Bay being the furthest to travel, wise use of taxpayers money IMHO.

Like the MSL fund or not, the people on this council all ride every day pretty much.

The Chair, Gareth Morgan is a well known Motorcycle Tourist, I am disgusted to read derisory comments in Kiwibiker about Gareth, he's as genuine as they come. Also very humble for a man of his accomlishments and wealth.

Paul Searancke from MNZ is also a man I have come to respect, and he has not taken one backward step during the steering committee meetings, as well as having his own Motorcycle shop and being commisioner of rercreation stuff for MNZ he is a typical Biker type character. Straight talking, no punches pulled with Paul, a very staunch ally for Motorcycling public and a fine addition to this 'watchdog' group.

Peter Macintosh from Ulysses, its no secret there has been tension between Peter and myself, however we put those issue's aside to work on this for the betterment of the riding public.
Personal agenda's are never present at these meetings, although much persoinal opinion is of course.

Yvonne Forest, also no ones fool and the WIMA rep for NZ. She wore her leathers into the ministers office! I was in a suit...and somehow felt underdressed compared to Yvonnes well worn race kit!

Jess Corbett from Scooters NZ (hope I got your rog right Jess) doesnt say much, but when she does trust me its relevant so listen and absorb. Very passionate about getting shit quality scooters off our roads and riders licensed and trained properly.

Have not known Bill Grice long enough to make comment but he seems very smart and was not shy to take Nick to taslk over detail on Friday, great start!

At our formal meeting last Friday Nick Smith explained we had ALL been chosen for the work we have done recently, and in the past in some cases.
He promised, ON RECORD, should we achieve the reductions the Australians in Vic achieved wiuth our safety levy, issues such as one levy for multiple owners and a reduction of the current 460$ leavy would be issues for future consideration.

Now any group that thinks they have been 'left out' needs to have a think about thier history, thier mission, and what thye would have done different.
If YOU wre asked by the ACC Minister ti help watch over the funds taken from your fellow motorcyclists pockets, would you say no?
Would you boycott involvment oin a principle? Or put your personal distaste for the ACC situation aside and do what YOU can do to see its used as intended??

Becuas ethats what I have done
I hate paying 500$+ for each of my bikes every year
I too beleive the data behind the increase is spurious, and I have an axe to grind just like all of us here.
BUT...I am now in a position to make a difference, at least to ensure this money does not just vanish into some new road bypass at Otaki or Hamner Springs etc......

There has been veiled allegations of various groups splitting the MSL fund between them as some sort of persoanl fund for those willing to kiss the ACC Ministers backside, well I say to hos idiots writing such tragic bullshit to walk a mile in my shoes

I never volunteered for this role, I was appointed
I never asked to be the watchdog, but once I understood the gains possible against the risks of the likes of the AA managing it, I stepped up, out of MY comfort zone, and took it on with full intention of making sure WE dont get shafted any further than we have

And reality check time!

Victoria's levy system has reduced its Motorcycle casualty rates by over 30%, by using their own DEDICATED safety levy (granted its much more moneyu than ours is)
We cant ignore that, and maybe its time we actually looked at ourselves (Katman Premise?) and started trying to stay alive as opposed to just screaming 'its all the cars fault'

I do not get any financial compensation for my time
I do not get anything for this effort except the staisfaction of knowing I am one of the watchdogs assigned to make sure YOUR money gets spent on YOU

This is my own personal blog on how I became involved, how I have my own doubts, my own reservations, and my own issue’s with this system.
BUT…I will give it my two years, and then I will measure our successes and failures.
Give it a chance before trying to tear it down, after all it’s YOUR money and we are acutely aware of this fact

Well tomorrow is the anniversary of the BIKEOI

Many of the forum members at this time last year were heading for Wellington with a firey message for Nick
Its been an interesting 364 days I must say.

BRONZ Wellington opened in the backbencher that day after we shouted Bullshit at TPTB, and I got wiped out drunk at the parrot n Jigger after with much assistance many persons both known and unknown to me.

BRONZ Wellington set a 3 year plan...nailed it in 2 months so set another...and nailed that in 6 months... and set yet another, which with any luck, will be nailed rather sooner we planned!
We now have 58 financial members and support and supply agreements with insurers, dealers, training orgs and a solid line on communications with the government (much thanks to Rick Barker, a founding member of BRONZ Wellington for his wisdom and guidance).

ACC approached us to assis with updating the Ride Forever website, out of which we got invited to assist with the creation of the MSL Governance structure and have a say to ensure the MSL is used as it was intended for.

We held a small motorcycle rally this Saturday just gone (unfortunately it coincided with the WIMA rally) and the 20 or so attendee's had a great time at Camp Kaitoke, after a magical mystery tour of the greater Wellington Region in suspect weather conditions.
Many sore heads in the morning, and a great new location for an new annual event we will be holding every year to remember the largest group ride in NZ, possibly the largest singular convoy of motorcycles to ride together in the world...no proof but cant find any that were larger as yet (and no disrespect to Sturges I doubt they had 6000+ bikes roll as one in its entire history)

So what have we learned?
Bugger all to be honest, we know the Government dont care how loud we holler, and even with Charley Lambs breakdown of the TRUE statistics involved, our cries of foul still fall on deaf ears.

On the personal front, my world has changed so much and so rapidly my head still spins.
Marriage ended, messy circumstances and all it was long overdue, but still what a mess.
Got me a Super Duke, broke my Ducati (yep shes down for a while with starter issues that could be the starter clutch but no money to spend on the freakin thing) and sold then brought back my lovely old GSXR1100 (I missed her too much)
Gave up a good job over stubborn pride, took longer to get hired than I had thought, met a new partner who just rocks my world, been a hell of a journey these last 364 days

Tomorrow I think I will walk down the street (currently working in Molesworth St coincidentally) and have lunch on the lawn of Parliament, and just ponder on what's next.........
Election year.....can we make a difference?

What a year
Shiny side up folks

Well, after my last blog entry Sissy the ST4 has had very little use (by my standards anyway) having only moved 2,600kms since her 'valve check' was done, oil filters tune blah blah.

On a run over the Pahiatua Track yesterday we noticed a few fresh spots under the bike, and a big black drip hanging off the paddock stand mount.
Having asked my 'regular' service agent to look into this issue before, (twice no less) and being told it was 'chain splatter, its nothing of concern' (they steam cleaned the area and ran her and checked again to be fair) I decided to head to a Ducati dealership for a health check on the bike.

Lo and behold, the hydraulic assembly where the clutch 'slave cylinder' is located was leaking hydraulic fluid... (at least it was not engine oil, but holy shit)...an issue I had asked more than once be investigated!

I actually picked this up when I had owned the bike for like a week and took it into the agent I got it from, cleaned, told 'it's no leak, its chain lube, don't put so much on'

So I let the chain run drier than I would like, so when we saw the fresh fluid build-up I was a bit pissed off.
NO WAY this was chain lube..... yes some lube was being washed off by the hydraulic fluid but no it was NOT chain splatter

Result is, new slave cylinder assembly required (no its not a replaceable seal, its pressed into the unit ffs) and having done hard speeds on a less than fully lubed chain, (that was getting hydraulic fluid dripped on it) the sprockets and chain are in need of replacement......soon at least anyway if not when the slave cylinder gets done.

What have I learned from this?

a: Do NOT let someone convince you its 'chain splatter' when your sure its got a source of flow, follow up and hassle the fuck out of the shop while the bikes UNDER WARRANTY!

b: Never run ya chain with less lube than you KNOW is right, (god I feel like a noob!)

c: Stick to the dealership that holds the franchise as far as servicing goes. These guys instantly knew where the leak was and why, and no one there tried telling me it was 'lube splatter'... they popped the cylinder off and showed me the failure!

Had I stood my ground 8 months back, this issue would be covered by warranty, sales agreements, blah blah blah.
Now...I face yet another 500 bucks of service cost that I could have avoided, and a new chain, new cogs (add another 500) and top it off, the rear Tyre is due too!!!!! (coincidentally)

I LOVE riding my Ducati, I love the looks it gets, I love the sound it makes, I love the way it handles....
.............I fucking LOATH the cost of keeping it alive.

Between the servicing costs, the re-paint needed (due to being vandalized by a fat drunken pathetic loser who most of ya know on these forums as The Black Stig) I am so over the Ducati factor......

Time to bring on the Daytona!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I often ask mechanics and other 'knowledgable' folk what REALLY happens if you dont service the Ducati at the intervals they reccomend.

So the ST4 was just shy her next valve service, but was running pretty horrid, just felt gutless, sounded rattly (more so than usual) and seemed to be using oil faster than I would have expected for a healthy motor.
Biting the bullet (and extending the overdraft) I booked her in for the BIG one, and lo and behold got informed my valves were all in spec and needed nothing done! 'So...so...why the hell she running like a pig?' I asked...well seems theyre more delicate than a Jap 4 cyl...sigh

Seems the oil was way past change due,(wtf I do it at 5k!) the oil filter was clogged, the air filter was shot, and a few other 'small' tuning issue's that all combined were causing poor old Sissy my ST4 to run like crap.
Got her back Thursday, and planned a decent ride on Sunday with some mates.

Mykro and his gal Cath came for a bit of a shin-dig on Saturday, as well as a few other KBer buddies and buddy-esses so we had a few bikes in the Bike port (one for cars, one for bikes, DONE!) and once we had settled the morning headaches with a few Panadols we headed norf, as always, over the Hill (I see a repeating theme in this blog, what a Hill that is!)

Stopped at the top for a smoke, had been a slow ride up due to muchus fresh diesel, and a wet, greasy road from overnight rain following an 8 day dry spell.
Kelly was complaining I went too slow, wondered if the ST had actually been serviced at all! I was just aware of those rainbows she couldnt see from the pillion seat.............. but never mind. Shiny side up, who cares what else we held up on the climb!

Out to Hooters for a Tui's BIG breakfast, coffee, and bullshit with the other bikers present as always. Exited via the Gladstone twisties, but shot out right to Masterton after Gladstone as we had to be in Wanganui (no H) by 1pm...and were starting to lose the race!
That being the case, Mykro's 650 got a real workout just keeping the ST in sight and well, I can confirm for sure the service made a HUGE difference, old Sissy was roaring! hummiing along at way over legal speeds in 4th and 5th (no need for 6th out there)
Yep...that service paid off alright!

I cant believe the difference in her delivery, smoothness and overall performance for just some new oil, filters, and a new K&N air filter that can be cleaned as opposed to 'replaced' next service.
Ill never hesitate to spend the coin again thats for sure.

Mykro and Cath waved off at the west end of the Manawatu gorge, and headed home to Levin while Kelly and I turned right at Ashurst and headed to Fielding.
Fielding- Bulls...Wanga's, only 1 hour late! (too many smoke stops, oh well)

Kelly's Nan fed us so well it was an effort to climb back on the bike and get moving again, but we managed.
Stopped at Levin Beach (the little one to north end of the lake........... yes we got lost! LOL) and watched the sun set into the ocean

Another quick smoke, stretch out the cramps, and off we went back to home with no further ado, just smooth fast miles passing under the bikes wheels, purring along at a steady speed and enjoying the feel of the in tune 916 gently tickling our bums through the padding of the touring seat.
Got a bit impatient to get home, so found ourselves doing some silly speeds down SH1 (gasp) but the sherrif on the back adjusted our velocity manually with a few well placed kidney punches at appropriate times, and we made it home ticket/incident free, YAY!

So, 10 hours, touching 700 odd kms with detours, big brekky, huge lunch, 3 tanks of gas and one very cramped up girlfriend.
Light salad, History channel for anasthesia, and it's bloody Monday again.........

What a weekend

Took my lady Kelly for a ride to martinborough on the KTM, and arranged to meet carla (aka Quasi) at the summit (Taka's of course) to head on down the hill with

So we pull up, get helmets off, chat away with a random biker we never met and my mate Matt pulls in with Graheme, a couple of riders I have come to know from the Gladdy circuit these last 6 months, as ya do.

This utter nutter in a white Starlet pulls in 2 mins later and whacks Matt! Like WTF! We join the numbers to cool it all down, and the moron in the starlet gets out a club weapon, doh!
Anyway details about that incident are in Rant n Rave, so no point rehashing it all here. Suffice to say, my girl sorted it out, wow!

After the drama and dust settles, we head on to Hooters, then visit a few mates in Martinborough and met back up again with Carla and her buddy Gray (yellow ST4, niiiiiice) and head of round the gladdy twisties to the Gladdy!

Arriving there we discover its Bianca's birthday and hes holding court in the garden bar, way cool! Bianca is Ducati_Girl on KB.
So Kelly gets in a few wines, I have ONE beer and a few cokes, and we met some real cool folk there I hadnt met before, some I had, was a great afternoon in the sunny garden bar at the Gladdy.

So now my Kelly, this is her second or third KB focused ride as she had been on a WNCR with me and we entertained the welly Tag O rama players at her place a month ago as well, so she decides thats IT I am getting my own handle on this website! Full on biker chick all the way now!

So, welcome The Pacifier (had to be at the hill top to understand the handle hehehe) to the forum folk, hse is my awesome lady, and is now determined to learn to ride, and wants a yellow Monsta just like Carla's!
At least the gal has taste! (and she's brave too!)

Now to find someone to teach her to ride...dont think I am brave enough to try correct her after the Hilltop incident..............

A few bitter disapointments behind me and moving forward, I have decided to chill and be just myself for a while, looking at moving to Wairarapa wich would be a nice lifestyle change, and crossing the Hill daily for work...what a horrible idea that would be:rolleyes:

Heading back to Parliament on the 16th of Feb with a bunch of trade union types, and of course all the bikers we can find on the day, should be a blast, we even have a megaphone this time woooohooo! Bring ear plugs peoples, I am a loud bastard lol

Anyway, 2010, is it my year...or thiers?
Time will tell, and the journey started yesterday with a serious life decision made, filed, and plan executed.
South America is on the cards this year, and this time I wont be distracted by work, look out all the Chikita's in Santiago, StoneY is on the way back sometime soon!

Wonder if I can lease/rent/borrow a bike in Chili....hmmmmmmmm

On Tuesday November 17th 2009, 9,500 of my friends and I made history.

This happened because a few people said ‘enough of the lies, let’s go tell them we don’t agree’ and BRONZ, Ulysses, WIMA, and HOG all came along to ensure the word got out.
And get out it certainly did!

We took the largest group ride in NZ and we took it from the ends of Aotearoa to the steps of the seat of the New Zealand Government, and we said in one voice, bullshit.
We had over 6,000 bikes, quite likely over 7,000 but definitely 6,000+ confirmed.
This was the direct result of the attempt by the National government to price our motorcycles off the road, and the backlash they got from the public was huge, not only from bikers either.

On the ride into Wellington, my friends who rode (I was at ‘ground zero’ running the stage) said school’s had lined the kids up and were waving them on, motorists pulled over to take photos of the bike convoys passing and many truckies spontaneously blocked side roads for safety as mass bikes passed them along the entire length of the country.

On the day, I spoke with Phil Goff and other members of the Labour caucus, and was amazed at the warmth and genuine intent these people have in the root of their souls. Many people only ever see the ‘talking head’ side of a politician, and never get a chance to engage them in one to one
conversation.

This is a shame, as they would discover most are genuine caring people who have given up much of their privacy, dignity and freedom’s to serve us, the people of New Zealand.
They are abused, vilified, taken to task over every decision they make, every sentence they utter, and often are forced to take a party line for an issue they may well not hold as their own.

But on the 17th, I met the top members of the Labour party, who I have always supported in my voting life and I was stunned at the genuine warmth and sense of solidarity that was prevalent on the steps of the Big House.
I think many of us forget that most people enter politics with utopian intentions, to try and serve their fellow Kiwi, and to make a difference to the future of our country.

But often we see what appears to be politicians’ lining their nests as plush as they can while the trough is on their side of the fence, and I have no doubt anyone reading this knows what group of politicians I refer to.
The resounding support from the Labour party has made me decide to follow through on something that had been nagging me a long time, how to make a difference.

I decided on the 17th, that it was now my turn to put my hand up, and say ‘I want to help, I want to be part of the solution, I no longer want to be just a voter, I am going to join up’
Whatever I can add to the Labour Party and the mission to free New Zealand from the tyranny of higher corporate management influences, I will give and give it willingly.
If I could get 9,500 bikers of all walks of life to unite together, and have no arrests, no fights, no accidents, and a peaceful but loud rally to tell the National government how we feel about the blatant lies and deception being used to tear our treasured compensation system apart as a marketing exercise, then I believe I too can make a difference.

Today I join the Labour Party, and I will take this fight to the streets, and further, all the way to the seats of Parliament if need be because I care, and I am a Kiwi Biker who I will not be lied to in the interests of lining rich men’s pockets.
Whatever your personal politics may be, I have this to say.

Please do not sell us out at the next election by voting Blue, and please….think very hard about what sort of country you wish to live in, one with a no fault compensation scheme the rest of the world envies, or one where your right to sue (and ability to lose in court) is forced back upon you by the Insurance Companies and the lobbyists that have John key’s ear.

Now lets not start on EFT...

Despite the shit we toss at each other on this and other websites the biker community I have come to know here in Wellington and somewhat further afar is genuinely a great bunch of people

Such a great bunch its worth spending the day helping people park, find resources and utilities, access for disabled or older riders, sound system.....list never ends (and I am still e-mailing now as I write this too) on the big day

I really wanted to ride in the convoy, but shit, so much at ground zero to be done

Tomorrow, when your all there, do me one small favour, one tiny courtesy to acknowledge the work the team here in Wellington, and the BRONZ teams, and especially the regional BIKEOI teams have made possible

Please, respect the marshals on the day
They've all like me, abandoned the actual ride, their spot on a historic group ride, to assist you tomorrow
Please remember that when they ask you to move or park where indicated

That's all I ask of you for all the work and sacrifice the marshals put in.....

Cheers and tomorrow, we will make ACC back the hell down, and National are gonna quake in their boots at the sound of Rolling Thunder in the Capital

The Duc's running sweet, day's perfect and nothing to complain about, looking forward to voicing myself with 500+ bikers! Yeah!

And comin up Queens Drive, having past High St and almost at Rutherford, this bitch in the left lane swerves (without any formal notice) into the space my bike occupies, woah shit brake brake BRAKE!!!!

Ducati ST4's can do amazing endo's!
Missus StoneY was (no shit) 4 feet higher than normal, bike up on front wheel, me lookin down through the windscreen at the back bumper of this Holden Barina as it cut in on my wheel, on the spot where moments prior I had been aiming to be at my leisurely 30kmh

So this cow carries on through the roundabout, into the river carpark, and my endo results in Missus StoneY bouncing off the bike, and getting half dragged as i tried to regain stability

I was furious, so once the lovely Missus StoneY is back on the bike, we head into the carpark, up beside the lady, blast the horn for attention.

She says she didn't see me I tell her its because she didn't fucking look and she nearly killed us by her stupid driving

She had the grace to apologize but fuck me, my missus nearly quit riding with me there and then (but bravely got back on)

And on to fuel up, Duck pond, Parliament, great day, fuckin awesome end to a near disaster
BIKEOI is announced, I smited Nick Smith in a one on one debate, and life is fuckin great

I hope we all can put aside the personal view when we do ride on Parliament, or MPs offices etc
We cant be seen as a rabble.
I support the BIKOI
Camp Parliament one weekend
Rides to MPs offices in sizable groups
Media exposure as far as we can get it but looking SANE

I have seen a few instances where here on KB we sort ofunite to get something done, like Anika's support, Carvers legal fund (go Carver:headbang:) things like this make us unite so lets use the ACC bullshit o uniote as never before

I have taken on the Wellington BIKOI organiser role happily.
Please, by all means contact me if you wish to help with organisation or have a good idea to share
Bald Eagle is running the Kapiti Coast side, so on the side of the hill, hit him up ;)
I ride 2 up - very very carefully- its another life I have in my hands and legs and balance and judgment - (poor soul) -
My co-conspiritors on the Blackbird and the Slingshot are patiently out-riding us behind and left/right of my track, kindly letting slow old 2up nana me lead us to our destination- or get us lost!
That all changed as a gaggle of bikes swooped past on the Martinborough road, and the two 1100's with a mind of their own just took off into the distance - and who could blame....
They waited up at the end of the road patiently awaiting our casual pace to catch up
