Dunno if its just me but I feel it does sound a bit 'tinny' - the fact that the guts is missing may have something to do with that.........:weird: However it has a significant 'Roar' over 7,000. Very nice, me likey.

One thing I have really noticed is a slight increase of lower RPM torque. It revs more freely and the front wheel is feeling a bit lighter than ever before on traffic-light launches.

There is one thing to consider if you decide to de-baffle your pipes on a R1 (2004 - 2006). Make sure that the pipes aren't going to overheat and melt any of your plastic fairings. Take into consideration that when the packing is taken out, the hot exhaust gases expand throughout the whole pipe and are not absorb by the packing/directed out through the pipe, so the pipe does get very hot...

And yeah, I was lucky. No melting :yeah: Ive tested mine to 98Degrees with no immediate stickiness to the plastic or the paint. So far so good. Now where did I leave those earplugs? :gob:

On Tues, I am going to have some of the packing taken out the pipes to give me some much wanted nice noises'. (I hope) The stock pipes were almost as quiet as a Goldwing and the ARROWS have given me a bit more decibels (and a tiny wee bit more BHP) but it still not as loud as some other branded pipes..... why ARROWS? Cause I got them at a good price, so had no choice which brand. I'll let you all know if it was a waste of time or well worth it.

The test grounds were at night in fine weather but it would be interesting to find out how well the tyre copes in hot weather/hard riding conditions (if the tread rips up/marbles etc). The fact he had only done 50kms on it before leading the pack, goes to show how sticky the tyre was already. Now the next tests will have to be in wet weather and also the longetivity of the tyre..........keep ya posted.

Qkkid will be testing/scrubbing in the new tyre tonight on the ATNR so I'll let you know what he thinks of it........:yeah:

Dad is still seriously ill at the North Shore Hospice. Mum is doing really well keeping a bed-side presence and attending to his needs.

We still don't know how much time he has, it could be a week it could be several months. The Doctors cannot put a timeline on his condition. However he is getting weaker by the day and does tend to sleep more each day partly due to the sedatives he is receiving (he gets anxoius when theres needles around). He is in no pain and completely understands his position.

I will let you know if there's any change.

Its been a while in the making...... :yeah:

Every single time we have had to or decided to 2-up, I have always been the rider in control. However a milestone happened on Friday night, where I grit my teeth and let Qkkid take the reigns. :shit:
To be honest I really enjoyed being a pillion! He did a great job, only a couple of small jabs in the ribs to remind him I'm on the back. To tell the truth it was the first time for me on the back seat of a sports bike looking well over the riders head. The only other time was with my Dad on the back of his K100 BMW but they only have a one-piece (one level) seat with huge handgrips on the sides. I really noticed the height difference and the first instinct was to put my feet down at the first set of lights. Another thing I noticed was the feeling of 'flying off the back' but this disappears after a hour or so and you can sit there and just use your feet on the pegs to control your weight balance. But I'd be damned if I could find anything on the bike to hold onto physically. The bike doesn't have luggage bars or factory fitted handgrips (unlike the earlier bikes like the GPZ/GPX, CBRF2, GSXRF etc..) thankfully Qkkid has had a Ventura Rack fitted and I found leverage from holding to the lugs. I think a small investment of $30-50 for a pillion bar that clips into the rack system would be money well spent and have ask for a quote for one on the ZX10R.

So when are we going to do the Coro Loop 2-up hun? :dodge:

As for 2-up on the R1? Even tho it is handles a wee bit better than the ZX10R the seating position was designed for a 4" Japanese lady......... Can you imagine sitting on a seat the size of a phone book with your knees up close to your ears? :weird:
