• Next BIG Protest with StoneY and the Unions

    Ok everyone
I have had a few people mention there is no defined thread for the NEXT PROTEST

I have sevreal Unions on board for a big march on Parliament, and the wheels are starting to roll
Dates set for 16th February, at this point its a logical date as the Corrections Union are having a march the week before, and some other group have one the week after so we get a finite window of oppotunity to pull this off.

I have requested permission from the Speaker to enter the grounds en-masse on 16th February.

This is about more than just Bikers but we want to have a strong presence there.

I need about 3-400 bikers to attend on the day and make a visible presence at the front of the house, but this time speakers will all be Unionists and Academics and other disafeccted groups (is that the right term?)

Its gonna take some work to pull it off again, and I am hoping we get the same support we got last time for the BIKEOI, but wont hold my breath.

Anyone keen to help, PM me
And I aint talking about handing out fliers, I mean WORK and responsibility for some of the organisation...(nearly killed myself the last time with exhaustion.)

This iwll be along the same lines as the BIKEOI, peacefull but a strong message
Want loads of signs, banners, and a good chant, one I think we have heard before, LOL

      Its far from fun.

Thanks to all who made it clear they will help, thanks to the Unions for spending thousands on the ads at ACDC (westpac gave the screens at a huge discount BUT it still cost over 3k) thanks MAX for coming down, Pedro, Connor and Casseye youll all be put to good use and Pdero this time you wont have to hang out t the stadium as bike security theres a bonus

Yow old buddy, if you think I am doing this for fun, then your seriously mistaken, I am doing this for my kids, your kids, thier kids, and the oldies who have done thier part and now stand to get ripped off by the Nat's and JK's big business mates

There's some real passion in this thread. Pity some of it is turning to personal insults...
The writing is on the wall for ACC as we knew it. Most of us (barring those who stand to make money from the changes?) don't like what is happening, and equally, most of the disaffected don't feel they have a voice that will be heard. The Bikeoi did. The unions do. The union protest provides an opportunity to Joe Public to perhaps be involved by being there. Or at least give impetus for others (Grey Power comes to mind) to organise their own protest.

Please everyone, Unions need more volunteers in Wellington region this weekend
If your attending the Fashion show, the 7's or the One Love rally, please volunteer to hand out some panflets
Contact me by PM to be put in touch with the people who will have the bulk supply

      Hi all,

We had quite a successful leafleting exercise at the AC/DC concert on Saturday. We are now looking for people to leaflet for the rugby 7s and possibly some of the other events on over the weekend.

We will need 4 people for each of the following rosters on Friday at the
      Station:
      Friday 5 Feb: 11am-12.30pm (the fashion show of costumes is on from 11.30-12.15); 12.30pm-2.00pm ; 5.30-7.00pm Saturday 12.00pm-1.30pm; 4.30-6.00pm

We also need people to leaflet the One Love festival at the Hataitai Velodrome from 11.00am to about 12.30pm. they are expecting about 15,000 people.

Could you please spread the word in your organisations and pass names and contacts on to me.

The good news for the Rugby 7s is that the CTU will be purchasing advertising on the electronic screens that will be at the staduium and scattered around the town. This will promote the rally and is really exciting.

      Regards

If anyone has good ideas to pass the flyer on, volunteer. Let's create some sub-groups to share messages so we aren't doubling up too much but that the load is shared.
Good work to all those who've been involved, whether helping Stoney or just telling your mates.

Looks like the state highways will be full of bikes again for 3-4 days, good stuff
You travellers all take due care ok, BIKEOI had 0 inbound incidents lets make this event the same (and avoid the tragic outbound incident next time too we hope)

Ok i just read a PM from an Employer, and granted taking 'sickies' might not be kosher to some.

I stand by my stance that THIS is the ONE political battle in the coming decade that every Kiwi, employer or employee, needs to support.
EMPLOYERS stand to lose a huge chunk of profits that will eventually end up as increased charges to the clientelle

On the day of the BIKEOI TSS Red Baron and a few other bike shops closed doors in some cases, allowed half the staff in other cases, to attend the BIKEOI on full pay
Now while thats because thier industry was under direct threat of the increased levy on bikes. this situation is no different IMO

      Truckies levy goes up 500%
Where is that gonna end up? On ya Milk and Eggs making that Omlette cost another dollar to make
      Roofers, 800% increase
You like sitting in a dry house? It just cost another 1500 buck on the average re-roof once the levy hike filters downhill
Dont even ask about the deep sea fisherman...(when I was on the trawlers as a younger man my ACC lecy was 5c in the dollar, highest in the list back then)...I dread to think what a fish n chip dinner will cost by 2012 if we let the Nats sell ACC off

So while a 'sickie' has been accused of being theft, face it, lose a half day today to keep the system fair, or start paying the ferryman for a ride in a dinghy accross a very rough river

Do you all realize that one of the changes being written in is that you will HAVE to use up all your sick pay and annual leave when your injured before ACC entitlement will even kick in?
And youll have only 70% compensation not 80% and thats WITH your levy contribution doubling, tripplin, quadrupling in many cases yet your entitelmenst shrink? ANd if your in need of more than 12 months of support in the 13th month you drop to 60% and at 2 years entitlement will cease unless YOU pay a private specialist for assessment out of YOUR 60% income?
Oh and no one is re-instating the 'right to sue for personal damages' that still hides behind the cleverly written ACC act....yet your entitlements are GONE baby, utterly gone

ACC gave the goverment 700 MILLION doallrs from its 'operational budget execess' last year, and still has 1billion left more than it paid out in the whole period
ITS NOT BROKE!!!!!!! It does NOT NEED FIXING!
Unless we can remove the 50 or so over 200k earners from the management and start refusing bulk payouts to bludgers (thats all it needs FFS!) there is nothing wrong with ACC

Kieth Mclea and John Judge were appointed by JK and immediatley gave themselves a 40% payrise over their predecessor's, how is that fair management of a Govt controlled asset? Its become a trough for the current government and they simply want to make money in thier private investment portfolio's, there is no thought for the little guy in this heinous proposal from Nick Smith and John Judge

The Nat's are simply trying to sell it off so JK's mates in merril Lynch can make 200 million extra profuit at theexpense of YOU and ME and even worse, OUR KIDS and GRANDKIDS
Pay as you go works, because no one can predict how many people will be hurt in a year or how much it will cost

Now call me a zealot, a misguided fool if you like I really dont care
If these changes go through, dont cry to me later, becasue I warned you, employers, contractors, workers alike, this has to be stopped or we become a miniture USA

If those figiures are right, why doesn't the CTU take out an ad (like ACC did) to inform NZ of this stuff?
A letter to the editor is all very well, but very few actually bother to read them...
