Well some of you will know I offed back in the middle of March this year. Bad call aborting an overtake only to have a sea of red brake lights in front of me when I looked back from my over-shoulder check.
My husband had just flown up to the States the day before and I had to phone him from the side of the motorway saying "well, you might like to sit down; I'm ok and the bike is still ridable..." (well, it was in a sense).
Little did I know at the time I'd broken my collarbone - I discovered that later when my daughter bossed me around and took me to the afterhours doc in Takanini.
Well after about 5 months of very little progress in the bone healing dept, I went to see an ortho shoulder specialist at the beginning of August. He gave me a cortisone injection in the back of my shoulder to try and relieve the frozen-shoulder I was suffering from. It hasn't made a lot of difference to the range of movement in my right arm, but it did take away the constant pain which manifested itself largely along the entire arm! Especially bad was my elbow. All referred pain from the muscles in the back of my shoulder apparently.
Today I went back for another xray and to see what he had to say. Long story short, I'm booked in for the beginning of Dec to have the bone plated. The break is such that the bone ends have not been able to "find" each other successfully to knit, so it looks like surgery is the only answer.
I will see him again at the end of Nov (with another xray being done) but unless that shows a spectacular/miraculous improvement, the surgery will go ahead as booked.
The good thing about this is that at least I feel like I am moving towards something now, rather than drifting in limbo waiting waiting waiting.
