Well this Saturday just past my fine purveyor of online blogs and ASCII translations of thoughts, I had agreed previously to help a young lady to sort out a new ride that would suit her eminently vertically challenged stature.

Now, as we all know, it does not take much of an excuse to make one perve longingly and with wondrous examinations of a delicate curve, the rounded form, promising much and with trembling member, we are transfixed in our winsome lusts and desire ... and explore those carnal visions with a nubile and young lass!

So with that allegory stirring up base emotions in my heart, I satisfied it with my young compatriot by exploring all the bike shops we could get around to! Much mirth was had by the aforementioned DMNTD at Mt Eden, chortling cackles was had by Wichard at Botany Honda, the presence of the dastardly Dushy and the vision of loveliness that is rie at Motomail were all part of the menagerie of KBers that reside in the motorcycling industry.

Much gear was tried on, bikes discussed, the woes of our chosen obsession re-visited and the pleasures enlivened the day.

Patience, patience gentle reader, the riding does come anon!

With the rounds of the shops done, the glorious sun sparkled like a diamond, egging us on to partake in its generosity and to spend its currency with gay abandon.

And abandoned ourselves we did, a quick ride via the three minstrels of the roads ... Whitford, Maraetai, Kaiaua. They played their lovely tune as we picked out the notes, swaying to their beats and rhythms. Lunch was an entirely delicious repast at the local Kaiau fush n'chuppies, donated left over food to two of the gangly youths and somehow, I convinced my earstwhile pillion that a trip to see what things she had not seen should be in order.

So this is the order of things she had not seen that was now seen by being held captive on my Big Ol'Hornet for another 630km (another nice round number, but still nowhere as fetching as the venus mons of our XY representatives)

Rotorua (via the SH that takes one around the lake)

Now, I do hear a gentle admonishment from you, my gentle reader "But! This is almost like what you did on the Friday!" And yes, I do hear you chide "Tell me this ain't so!"

Now before you get a rush to the head and apoplexy set in, I did take alternative routes back up to Auckland. Please do remember, for my young captive pillion, all this is rather new for her, and as for me, any excuse for a ride is my catechism!

So there.

Fortunately this time, no rain, plenty of lovely vistas for her to revel in and as my timing was perfect, the evening sun painted its pink pastels across the land. The thrum of the motor, the roar of the wind, the communion of the soul as the riding experience pushes one to its edifice of ecstasy is what all bikers know and love.

Of course, this is erased in an eyeblink literally as the corpses of insects pile up thick and fast on the visor. The bigger ones of course sound like a bullet shot and the ones that impact into your throat make rather an impression.

Anyhow, back into Auckland, my pillion is now released from her bondage and ordeal and she is beaming with the prospect that she would not have to ride longer with me that night.

I think the long way home may have surprised her somewhat, from the state highway, I often detoured at Mercer and Bombay to do the backroads ... to get back on the motorway, to do ... more backroads.

Suffice to say, I was rather surprised she was keen for more punishment at my hands. Hmmm, methinks I shall have to try harder!
