Ok it didn't rain on my arse...It called for rain, but it was cloudy all day...

I finally thought to take Green Envy out for a ride (yup that is my new baby's name) My cruiser's name is Sah Sin (means hummingbird in Haida Indian)

I rode to the gym, did my workout and was watching the clouds out side as I ran on the treadmill...getting darker...so I ran faster...LOL ...didn't want to get wet on the way home although I was already soaking with sweat.

I rode home and the wind picked up alittle...

A few thoughts went through my head while riding...when the side wind hits the bike it feels like it wants to take the wheels right out from under me...is this normal on a crotch rocket? and why don't I get this on my cruiser? mind you with the strong winds, because I have those fenders over my wheels, I do get it with strong winds but not as if my wheels want to get flipped.

Next thought that went through my head, ok since I have to keep the RPM's at 6000 for the first 1000 km as recommended by the Kawi rule book...does that mean I need to shift gears quicker and do like a 5 th gear to stay at 80 km/hr speed limit on the road to try to keep it at 6000rpm, I always feel like its reving too high, but it almost likes to stay at 8000-10,000 rpms in 5 th gear...it almost starts to get that happy hummming sound at that rpm...

What do you people think...this probably sounds like a dumb dumb question, but with my cruiser I just have to listen to the engine and know where it likes to sit, no breaking in period for her, as I got it already used...

Ok awaiting someones expert opinion here...

Yeah, just short shift to keep the revs down for the time being. A ninja will certainly feel happier at higher revs, but be patient for now.

Wind can definitely push you around... dunno how it compares on a cruiser, but I feel it on my bike. Just relax your grip on the bars, almost to the point of letting go (but not quite) and you'll find the bike will lean into the wind on its own for the most part.

I get blown around a fair bit on my older Ninja, I just did the round trip from Hamilton to Taihape and back weekend just been, so I know what you mean in regards to thinking the wind just maybe could flip you upside down, but fme like the above post said, keep your hands light on the bars and the bike will find its own way back after a big push, mine sits on 100 kph at 7250 rpm and sings after 9 grand so you have that to look forward too :-)

You'll find leaning forward more (the sports bike posture) helps lessen the effect of the wind. Also make sure you don't tense your arms up.

Bigger sports bikes are waaay less affected than the smaller ones. Because your little ninja is so light and with tiny tyres it will get blown around a lot more than what my GSXR 750 will for example. In saying that my Gixxer gets blown around more than my CB900 did, depending on how much I tuck myself up on it. I usually do'nt tuck up that much and just deal with the wind because of my fat gut! lol.....

Pretty much your cruiser will always be more stable in wind, but if you do get a bigger sports bike you will find it less of an issue.
