KB'ers Making it Real

Had a full-on week last week.

My nephew, Joe, has been overseas for 11 months and is currently travelling through Africa. While in Botswana last week, his bag was taken, complete with passport, and having arranged his travel insurance as his broker, that involved me more-so than it would have as just his uncle. (It all turned out well in the end.)

Then there was the Welly Luncheon and KB Gathering in Turangi. It amazes me that with 8,400 members, 30 could turn up to the luncheon but only 22 turned up to the Gathering. We can get more than that on a Welly Wednesday night ride. We had a great weekend of socialising and riding (doing nearly 1500 kms) and events like these are what make KiwBiker the unique forum that it is.

With all the crap lately about abuse, Sin-Binning, harsh moderating and members declaring they are baling out for whatever reason, it was great to see a bunch of KB'ers doing what it's all about....biking! This is gives this site the vibrance it has and adds reality to the KB experience. I now know a lot more KB'ers on a personal basis and can choose to call them by name or logon. When they make a post, I can support their view, or give them shit (and they probably wont take it seriously in the knowledge that it's coming from the prick in the stupid hat that was in Turangi) and with that in mind they will appreciate the support or know that there is no malice intended.

I belong to other clubs where you meet the members, then utilise the bulletin board as a means of communication. Here on KB, we communicate incognito, then meet on Local rides & socials, Trackdays, and rallies.......Here's to making it Real!!
