I've had a few offers of brake calipers since my last post. If you think you can help it's a ZXR250A right hand front caliper complete with the mount (which holds the pads). Below are pics of a left hand caliper.

Anyway - got the thing running last night.
I took the mains out and hooked everything up. After much kicking without result I went over everything with #1 TDC (remember this) getting spark, firing point etc.
I swapped the leads over and got a weak backfire so started working backwards from there. I went back to the Interweb and started searching for info on the RGV250 VJ21 L CDI. I found that it triggers 50° BTDC. Wow. Time the move the flywheel around.
Glen got involved and we got it running on #2 cylinder. I removed the triggers from the flywheel and carefully welded a new one on at about the right point.
Swapped the leads back to the correct cylinders. Now it runs on one again...
A bit of head scratching and then we checked the one assumption I had made.

A small 'mistake' on setting the crank to fire 90° meant it fires #2 first then 90° later #1. Once Glen and I realised this getting it going on two cylinders was easy.

So it runs. But now I need a replacement RD250/350 LC flywheel as the woodruff key is way out with the timing set right whereas a standard flywheel is right! Oh well. Things we learn.

Still to sort out the mixture and #1 cylinders exact timing (I believe it should be 88° or 89° after #2 due to crank flex but need to check).

Anyone got a RD250/350 LC flywheel?
