Still hooked on buckets

Well, what happened to buckets?

Well my broken heel happened, that’s what.

No racing, the doc says, till July/August next year.

So what to do until then. My partner has decided to give me permission to stockpile goods and go to the meets at Mt Welly till I can race. I don’t think she realises the extent of the permission she’s given me though. This means levers, brake pads, wheels, tyres, nylons, copious amounts of duct tape and cable ties, maybe even a full bike. (Let me know if I’ve missed out some essentials guys!)

I think a lot of people would be put off by the delay/set back a broken heel would produce but to be honest, I can still see the excitement and this wont be a phase, just like road bikes weren’t a phase (much to the disapproval of mother ) and just like my PPL isn’t a phase (again, much to the disapproval of mother). I feel that bucket racing will become one of my passions (and main expenses) in the near future I don’t even mind that I wont be the fastest rider out there. I just want to have fun!

Watch this space because over the next few months a bucket may be taking shape. I’m scouring every wreckers yard and Trademe for a cheapo FXR, wider wheels and anything else that might pop up my way, just so I can have something ready,

even if it’s not the flashest or fastest bike on the block,

At least I’ll have one

Seriously, come to a bucket meet (hell, we'll let ya flag for a race or ten if you're lucky). It's only a couple of weekends away.
Before bike & stuff (oh, but keep an eye out, as ya never know what comes up), make sure you've got gear (preferably leather), back protector and come take a bike for a spin when you're physically able.
B grade (and F5) is more polite than A grade (by a long shot most times), but keep in mind, last place in B grade is MINE. Sheesh and some people think I have absolutely NO goal in life.

Know what you mean about the mother. My parents so don't understand bikes. Dad was stressed out that for his birthday we were shouting him something to do with bikes. No wonder he was so pleased with the non-bike related present.

But do come along, and we'd be thrilled to have you flag if you feel up to it (it is interesting sometimes). See you soon.

I'm coming to the round on 12/13 of feb so I'd be keen to do some marshalling and get to know some people, no better way than to turn up! I was supposed to be at the one on 14/12 but alas I had an arguent with gravity and I lost.

I have all the gear, just need leather pants and get them tailored to zip to my jacket.

And don't worry, I'll be battling for a spot at the back, should be some fierce competition!
