Got the 1st for Motorad B Grade and a 3rd for King of Kaitoke and to top this off I managed a not last and not lapped A Grade race on a very wet track;
The day started with my daughter cross-threading one of the front caliper bolts while helping me change to wets. Luckily we found another bolt, after a few words were spoken under my breath.
Practice race; Started on pole and got a nice clean run.
First points race; Started on pole (as Mark hadn't showed up), finished 7th; came off 2nd corner Chicago when I tried to open it up. Once I got the bike up and running the bike then spent the next 2 laps dropping grass clumps around the track that the fairing had scooped up. Managed to finish 7th.
Second points race; Started 7th finished 3rd; Lap 2 or 3 going into corner 4 at the end of the back straight I braked late forcing Ben to run wide which led to him running on the outside of the bike in front of us. The bike in front then tried to open up to early and crashed. I caught up to the the little pit bike and became so focussed on trying to pass him Cameron shot past me on the same corner. I got stuck behind the little pit bike as he was sliding around and I couldn't anticipate as place to pass him (I needed to pass him for 3rd for the points). Finally, last lap in between corner 5 & 6 I managed to get my bike up the inside to pass him and got third.
Third points race; Started 3rd finished 2nd. Blew the start big time as freaked myself out wheeling out of the pits. Calmed back down going into the start finish straight and regained 5th. Spent the rest of the race catching back to take 2nd. Hard but great fun.
A grade fun race;
Bad start start and was last by the end of that back straight. I caught back up to Malcolm and had a great 3 lap battle to pass him, which completely wore me out and couldn't believe I had 2 laps to go. I did make up about 50m catching up to Adrian.
So back to A Grade I go. As long as I can keep my head straight and not freak out (as I always did last year) I hopefully will catch up to Adrian.
I either need to look at my gearing to eliminate using first gear as I still have a some of the top gear available and some gears are a bit low in the revs exiting some corners, or get flat track cams and the top air flowed to get more out of the engine.![]()
