Valve bouncing Hyosung

I have a 2005 GT250 (carb'd) that runs fine up to redline (10,000) when warm but will not go past 6000rpm when cold, bouncing between 6200 and 5500rpm, meaning I am limited to 80kph on the m'way on my way home. Also it only gets 300km out of a tank when my bro has a GT250R that is a year older and gets over 400km from the same size tank.

I guess that the fuel is due to poor tuning but would it be responsible for the valve bouncing, or might it be something more sinister, like a bent or cracked valve?

    Sounds over choked. Would also explain fuel consumption. Wouldnt valve bounce cold then be fine warm. Cant happen.

    Can't imagine why it would valve bounce when cold at 6000 and then run normally when warm up to 10,000.

    How long does this cold running last, my GV250 runs a bit hesitant - particularly when i come out of corners at lower revs - when I take off first thing these winter mornings but that only lasts 500 metres or so. That is probably running lean as I don't use thre choke, therefore less fuel is vapourising so its running lean. Once it warms up, the appropriate amount of fuel evaporates and the engine runs OK.

    Is that 300km until your gauge reads empty or 300km until you actually splutter to a halt from lack of gas?
    My 2005 GT250 gets about 350km per tank. I usually fill it at the 325km mark and I've almost always got another 3L in the tank to go. The fuel gauges are an indicator but shouldn't be taken as the gospel. From what I understand the GT250R's have an electronic fuel gauge which may be more accurate to the analogue ones on our bikes.
