Ok so on tuesday i was on my computer looking for a job AGAIN. And i turn around and see black smoke belching from my living room floor out of my garage (which is under my house). So i sprint down stairs open the door (burning my hands). The inside of the garage looked like the center of hell. Black smoke, fire and cans of fule burning so i grab the phone and call the firefighters. Then i realise OH SHIT MY BIKE . Let me tell you somthing seeing your new bike in the back of a burning garage is not a nice site. Screw that am not leaving my bike. So i ran in grabed it and somehow got it out (undamaged). Then i realise oh yeah my house is still on fire. So i grab a crappy hose on start to FIGHT THE FIRE. I managed to get the fire out as the fire fighters arravied lol. I lost $700 worth of tools, my new sub woofer, home speaker system and a 6 pack of guinness . But hey it could have been worse. The strange thing is the firefighter said a oil rag spontaneously combusted and set fire to my cans of CRC. It was a cold day and no one was in the garage. Im curious has any one else had this happen to them or no why the rag would burst into flames.

Some oils will create heat as they dry .... linseed oil is the worst. Have you been oiling any timber furniture or similar?

Was there any direct sunlight around at the time?
    What time of day?

My wife had a small glass globe on our TV and I couldnt work out why there was a melted area of plastic on the TV.
Sunlight was shining in thru the Globe (acting like a magnifying glass) and burning the plastic but only at a cirtain time of day

I'm sure it would have made a fire if left longer.

I have also herd of the same thing with glass bottles

    Just an idea
