Happened just down the street from me. Morons, get off the fucking phone.
A 57-year-old East Helena man was severely injured in a crash on Highway 12 Friday night.
The man was driving a motorcycle about 9 p.m. traveling southbound on First Street in East Helena when he was struck by a passenger car with two occupants. The driver of the car was headed eastbound on Highway 12 and ran a red light after being distracted by his phone, according to Montana Highway Patrol Trooper Ben Amos.
The man was wearing a helmet but was injured enough to be transported to St. Peter’s Hospital and later life-flighted to Benefis Hospital in Great Falls.
The two males in the car were wearing their seat belts and were not injured, Amos said.
“Alcohol was not a factor, just distracting driving,” he added.
