Busy Bike Days

Yesterday, Sunday took the 'Strom' off to Waihola in the late afternoon dodging showers to meet up with Dunedin KBer's for tea to celebrate a 21st.
Approaching Milton a large cumulonimbus cloud was dropping wet stuff on the hills between Milton and Waihola.
So I hung a left and did a quiet side trip up into the Manuka Gorge. It was wet in there and the going was slow, wet road, some gravel piles left after the recent spate of gravel spreading to mitigate the frosts and the fact that of the 40 odd cars I met 72% were on the centre line, or over on my side. Skiers still shushing I guess.
I ran into light drizzle and turned back to run back through the gorge. Good, if slow fun.
Arrived in the dark at Waihola Tavern, I was the only one on the bike!
Fifteen of us all told, good meal and plenty of laughs. Best stories were about rides and how much we enjoy the action on KB.
After 10pm we all set of home and as mentioned in my post I ran into snow showers about 6k N of Balclutha. Interesting on the visor.
Today, I had the opportunity to run through to Dunners (work again). Approaching Milton that same big cloud was still dropping goodies and I stopped both for fuel and to put the wets on. Wet through to Waihola with dry roads after that! Caught the eye of two police people in a mufti car dressed in overalls at the 'filler up' in Milton. No need to worry. The driver was simply interested in the V-strom as he rode an older XL 500 himself!
Left Dunners about 4.45pm as I topped out on Three Mile Hill I could see that blasted cloud dropping stuff between Milton and Waihola again! Almost got caught watching the weather and not the road which was spotted with diesel! Interesting upright cornering to avoid the greasy stuff.
I could see the light beyond this cloud bank so once through the rain was a dry trip home.
It looked as if it would freeze in S.O. which made the Milton - Balclutha run cold but excellent on a dry road. 100kph all the way. A ute with a low slung fuel tank stayed ahead of me right into Balclutha where an older camper van was creeping across the bridge over the Clutha pouring clouds of smoke over the commuters heading home.
Interesting what you see when out on the road.
I've tried to convert my "Workmade me do it" trip report into this blog, but only the last page, sans pictures came across. I have much to learn.
Cheers.
