Between the weather and the desire to preserve tyres for the Grand Challenge, the last two weeks have been very lean on K's. In fact, this week is the first in over two years that I didn't use the bike to go to work at all and I've probably only done 200-300Kms.

My total rides were a jaunt up to Raumati Sth last Friday to see a client. It was a beautiful day, although a little cool after the southerlies from the previous days, and the short ride was made a little more interesting by coming back over the Paekak' Hill.

Last Sunday I decided to visit Steve, who is still recovering from his 'off' but he wasn't home and as I was virtually at Rimutaka, I went for a blat over the hill. It was reasonably windy so I had to allow a good margin for errors and gusts but the road is in pretty good condition so it was a nice wee diversion to a very quiet day and week.

Wednesday was cold and marginal but I decided at the last minute to attend the TCWNR which, from home and return was only a total of 50K's. I met the others at the Avalon Pond and rode TEC to the Sand Bar in Paramata, a short ride even by Cruisy Wednesday standards but the coffee an company was pleasant.

Yesterday I went to town to check-up on Nanny Ann's Tennis then nipped out to the Mega Centre in Porirua to get the last couple of items I needed for the GC and that brings me to today.

I was supposed to lead the 2nd attempt at the Ulysses Wgtn Scenic Ride, as it was cancelled last week due to weather, and I didn't hold much hope for today either but after watching the All Blacks lose I hit the road, just in case any other fools turned-up. Fortunately no-one did so I returned home to watch some Mount Panorama racing before taking Nanny Ann out for a wedding anniversary celebration.

It is now only four days till I head off for the GC and I can't wait. I'll take the bike into Boyle's tomorrow for a pre-GC check. That will be the first of a full calendar of rides between now and Christmas which could see me put nearly 8000Kms on the bike. Awsome.
